Remember when people who were tech savvy thought Apple was a turd in PC's clothing?
Now it seems everyone is at least a little tech savvy and chumming Apple products.
What happened?

"3D" Movies.
They used to be just a gimmick...
Now, they're a popular gimmick that make lots of money for people who already have enough money to shoot a film in 3D.

I'm gonna add onto that and say super fucking tight skinny jeans. I get that the baggy look is also shitty, but there is a goddamn middleground here.
