The ball Wakka uses in FFX. It's just...not right. HOW DO YOU KILL AN ENEMY WITH A BALL?

Also the megaphone Cait Sith uses in FFVII.

And, just because it looks kind of stupid, Squall's Gunblade in FFVIII.

What stupid weapon can't you stand in the worlds of Final Fantasy?

The buster sword and Sephiroth's 10 foot katana.
Pretty much any weapon in FF7 besides Cid's spear and Tifa's fists.
Keyblades take the cake though.

FFX-2's effing PISTOLS!!! That is the most unoriginal thing ever, and FF has created a long trend of great ideas, alongside flashy colours brought to us by women-men and skinny chicks. Pistols do not belong...

Blunt force trauma. I think.

OT: Lulu's Moogle thing-ma-jing.
It's a teddy that WALKS then HEADBUTS an enemy in the STOMACH! For poor damage unless you grind like crazy.

EDIT: Bloody ninja'd. While quoting a ninja.
It was never gonna end well.

I'm with TheNamelessGuy.

With the exception of Edgar's Autocrossbow. It gives me a girlboner.

I really hated Tidus' swords. They were either really curvy, flicked at the end, or not at all sharp.

Gunblade is awesome and you know it.

I don't think FF has especially ridiculous weapons compared to any other fantasy game that tries to add very unique ones regulary. I mean, FFX has dolls, Shadow Hearts has marionettes.

I mean, even Sephiroths Masamune makes sort of sense when you consider he's ultra powerful and fast supersoldier who has very little trouble slashing it through solid steel. It's mildly lampshaded by stating that Sephiroth is basically the only one badass enough to wield it... So he might be using such a inefficient weapon simply because he can.

Buster Sword on the other hand is directly lampshaded in one of Zacks flashbacks, which goes something like this:
Zack and Angeal are standing back to back, surrounded by a horde of monsters.
Zack: "Is it time to use that sword of yours yet?"
Angeal: "...This sword is heavy and unwieldy."

...And apparently he fought with his regular SOLDIER issue sword. Seems there's a reason why it's Clouds worst weapon in VII. =)

It does sort of make sense considering the sword was a symbol for Angeal rather than a weapon.

So yeah, unconventional weapons for unconventional people. However, how does one use a brush as a weapon?

Most everything that would, in a real-life situation, be ridiculously impractical as a weapon. The Buster Sword, the Masamune (in FF7, anyways - in other incarnations it's normal-sized, I think), Wakka's ball, Gunblades (which would be hideously off-balance weapons, and difficult to aim and keep steady) and Keyblades.

In the games, they can be whatever they want to be.

HOWEVER

In Advent Children, am I the only one who noticed that almost none of their weapons seemed like it even phased Bahamut SIN? I mean, Cid's impalement on it's head looked like it hurt, but everyone else before Cloud comes in(ESPECIALLY Vincent and Yuffie) looked like they were sucking major ass.

I don't count Red XIII and Cait Sith as they didn't really do anythign except show up.

And Tifa just seemed to look on until the threw Cloud into the air...

No wonder Cloud ditched after FFVII, his friends are useless! XD

Not so much hate but the Geomancer in FF3DS equipped hand-bells, what the hell, at least they could call up the elements to kill things.

Also Cait Sith's megaphones, that just really weird.
