Whenever I mention that I enjoy watching pro-wrestling, they always check to make sure that I know it's fake. In all fairness to them, up until the movie "The Wrestler" with Mickey Rourke, most movies depicting pro-wrestling have either depicted it as real, or having fans believe it's real, or both.

Actually, the more I think about it, the stigma that surrounds pro wrestling produces so many stereotypes that it makes me angry. Wrestling fans apparently are uneducated and stupid, some people insist that wrestling is fake to the point that the wrestlers never ever suffer a legitimate injury, people accuse wrestling fans of watching it only for homoerotic imagery, and so on and so forth.

I do have to admit, though, that sometimes I will see WWE on a TV screen in a bar with people who are pretty neutral to wrestling, and their presence sometimes allows me to view wrestling with a certain objectivity, and WWE and TNA are actually getting pretty ridiculous. The Nexus angle is doing incredibly well and is the only thing keeping me going on RAW, but so many gimmicks are absurd, so many storylines are embarrassing, and how can anybody - including fans - take something seriously when they even treat themselves as a joke?
I agree with this. Although I don't watch wrestling, I know people do watch it (including my father) that are quiet intelligent. As well as the sport is not fake, if it was fake then no one would ever get hurt, it's staged, there's a difference. The wrestlers really are getting the shit beat out of themselves, and they really do try their damnedest to put on a good show for the fans and have fun.

And something that I personally hated was that I signed up for German classes at my school (never got in, not enough people signed up), and I was suddenly a Nazi for wanting to learn a language that existed thousands of years before the rise of the Nazi political party, and has a large baring on my heritage. Just because the country fucked up hard once doesn't mean they always walked around in brown uniforms sieghieling (Not sure if that's spelled right) to a giant picture of Hitler. Doesn't help that all but about four people at my school where dumber than cow shit. Thank god I only have a few more years until I'm out of this damn system.

I don't like the assumption that because I play video games, that's all I do. Used to get it from my teacher all the time, and the **** is only in his twenties. You'd think his brain wouldn't be stuck 30 years ago. But I shut him up eventually, by informing him that I smoke weed and masturbate as well. No further comment.
I've got a lot of friends who don't game, and while normally it's cool, it really REALLY pisses me off when someone sees me gaming and they're like "oh gaming, so this is what you do?". Fuggoff, I could be doing literally anything else as constructive (watching tv, some movie, some random book) and people wouldn't bat an eye. I game though, and oh, that's what I do.

It's never a big deal, it never starts an argument, it's just something I've noticed. There's definitely still preconceptions of what gamers are by nongamers. To me, I enjoy games much like I enjoy a good book or a good movie. I spend about as much time with them as well. But what are ya gonna do.

Here's a new one: All cyclists are red light running road hogs. It's especially galling when it means that I as a law abiding road user cops verbal abuse (at best) merely for existing. Getting cut off by someone, and then getting abused for it gets old pretty quickly.

Wait, what? That's escapism, what almost every person on this site likes.
And Role-Players are awesome. You get a good RP server for an MMO, and it's amazing. More politeness, more of a story, it's all win. Pen and paper role-players are even better.

It'd say that the idea that role-players are weird freaks is my hated stereotype.
But, like alot of stereotypes, it happens to be reasonably true!

Studying Japanese makes you an 'otaku.' Annoys me to no end.
You know what I think is even worse? Studying German makes you a possible Nazi sympathizer.
Seriously, what the fuck?
I cannot tell you how much I have to deal with this on such a regular basis. Although I was born in America, my family is predominately German, so I listen to German music (Wagner, Beethoven, [Rammstein and Eisbrecher too] etc) and am currently taking classes on the language because I'm trying to get more connected to my family's roots. There is so much more to German Culture than Nazis, Bratwurst, and Leiderhosen. We kicked the snot out of Rome after all. Plus you have the Holy Roman Empire (probably one of the biggest misnomers of all time), Martin Luther, Gotz von Berlichingen (Imperial knight that made the first modern prosthetic), really kick ass castles, and the longest opera written (16 hours long. Suck it Tchaikovsky!).

As for graphics, yeah it's fun to oggle good graphics in a game, but honestly I prefer storyline over all. The best graphics in the world won't make up for a crap/stolen plot. That's why I love Neverwinter Nights 1 so much. Well that and the fan made content/user friendly scenario creator.

And most of the other stereotypes that anger me have already been said.

That punishing your children and beating them are one in the same, with the new system if you even touch the child your ass gets taken to prison for child abuse. Now let me say I am in no way saying I accept and approve of child abuse but this new system of giving "time outs" just isn't working obviously it's just turning kids into smart ass little pricks who think they can get away with anything and most of them need to be smacked upside the head to put them back in their place.

Let's see... oh here's another one, when I watch anime and some people see me watching it they tell me to grow up and to stop watching cartoons. It's better than that crap on Cartoon Network during the day where it's all about sharing... -.-

Oh wait wait one more, this one personally came from my brother as I am an atheist he says I can't celebrate Christmas and thinks I'm only in it for the presents, but I'm really not, sure they are nice but that is the time everyone gets together to spend time and share stories about the year, that's what I like about Christmas.

The stereotype that all readers of manga are in it just for the fanservice.
This happens to me so much. It's ridiculous. Sure, alot of manga have fanservice, but it doesn't mean the only reason I enjoy a series is because there is a busty character in it (for example Ouka in the .Hack manga). Silly people.

The assumption that all Newfoundlanders are stupid (aka goofy newfies). Gotta say that it irritates me because there are a number of very intelligent people from here. Think the whole thing comes down to the fact that we never hesitate to make jokes about ourselves... we tend to be very easy going... and people mistake that for us being simple. Not so.

I take it that's a not very well hidden insult against Jack and Calumon?
Oh, also, I'm called Jack, so your comment sort of annoys me too.

OT: Just the usual 'gamer have no lives' etc etc stuff.

Gamers have plenty of lives, especially if you know the konami code :)

2) Every Stereotype is Racist. (Meaning that if you make a stereotype joke or observation, it's racist.)
People really need to get this one through their fucking heads. It annoys me to no end. I don't know why people seem to think that any sort of generalisation is discriminatory.

Oh, and on that note. I hate the term 'reverse racism'. It means discrimination against white people due to their race bymembers of another. It is a load of bullshit, if you discriminate against someone because of thier race you are a racist, regardless of their race.
