Anything I like . . . just anything. It's as if they can't find anything else, so they have to critique me on that alone.

"I like Tron." - This makes me a nerd
"I like the Residents, Oingo Boingo, Devo etc." - This makes me weird
"I like making costumes." - This makes me some sort of shut in with a awkward hobby
"I like drawing alot." - This makes me some sort of unrelatable artsy-type
"I like being alone sometimes." - This makes me anti-social

Rarely are these judgements based on actions.

I don't talk - More evidence to the anti-social thing
Someone saw me on T.V. - This makes me "famous" or "above" talking to you
I'm not constantly smiling - I'm depressed or I don't like you

The hair too, possibly. It's long for a guy considering everyone else has a prisoner buzzcut. Apparently, this makes me a homo, although I've never seen a gay person with long hair: ever.

I never drank any alcohol, and I'm not even going to try it.
I don't understand the taboo that so many people have with alcohol, not drinking it doesn't make you a better person.

But I don't know you and this is a thread about stupid prejudice so:
Why not?
Well, I don't understand the fascination that people have with alcohol, apparantly drinking it makes you badass and not drinking it means that you are a pussy.

I used to drink heavily and now I don't really drink at all.

Alcohol adds nothing to the night. I might have one drink if it's of particularly good quality, but I don't drink it purely because it's alcohol. Haven't had a drink in a few months and there's an unopened bottle of port sitting on my shelf.

Yes, you read that correct.

I get judged For READING BOOK

Albeit most highschoolers are stupid twats.
I have that too, I like (some) books, Mostly fantasy stuff like Harry Potter and Eragorn.
But I am usually called off for my poor behaviour, and lack of cooperating in situations I find lacking.

I can remember when we had to choose whether we want to take Latin- or IT-classes in school, pretty much everybody assumed I'd take IT.

During that time, maths was one of my worst subjects and I couldn't even understand the basics of the binary system. They knew that. Still, they somehow thought I'd take IT. Why? I guess, 'cause I'm a Gamer.

And I still don't know why people are so surprised how good I am at poetry or acting, even if they've seen me doing it multiple times before. Aren't thin, weak, geeky boys supposed to be good at that stuff?

But hey, I have to say: Destroying expectations is definitely one of the pleasures in life...

Weight and ache. Though I am slowly beginning to lose the weight, I still have horrible ache. I've had ache from 4th grade all the way up to 11th now.

Being able to handle your drinks makes you a badass the same way being naturally strong does, in a completely un-meritable way that doesn't matter.

The fascination comes from how different things are when you're drunk.

I think good homebrew tastes like sex. Or magic, one or the other.

OP: I am 6'5, 265lbs of muscle and everyone thinks I am a lumbering meat head, until they speak to me and quickly realize I am dramatically smarter than they are. I am actually highly educated and have a very good vocabulary. I am also a huge computer nerd. Fun mix huh?
You sound like the perfect person.

I've never tried home brew but I imagine it's like warm apple pie..

Well I've had some other teenagers scoff at me for:

not wanting to ever get a tattoo or piercing.
Not wanting to waste my saturday night by going to some party to watch people act like idiots
not trying this Bloody Mary mix someone sneaked into school in a water bottle
thinking like an individual :O
refusing to join some people to smoke weed

Frankly, I don't need to mutilate my body, I don't care for parties, I can wait 5 years to drink some alcohol, and I don't need weed, my life is fine without it.
By saying people act like idiots at parties your descending to the same kind of pointless prejudice that you're complaining about receiving..
You wouldn't say that if you knew most of the people at my school.

Edit: I didn't exactly say what I was thinking I was trying to say. The people who asked me are generally well known to be idiots. They make all d's and c's, they constantly mock people, and I really don't like them. I knew a few of them pretty well, so I'm not judging blindly here.
Fair enough, what are D's and C's? Grades?

Right, forgot the rest of the world doesn't use the same grading system as the US. They are. The US grading system goes:

A = 100%-90%
B = 89% - 80%
C = 79% - 70%
D = 69% - 60%
F = 50% and below

Don't ask why they skipped E, because I have no honest idea xD

Ahh well here in the UK we do use grades it's just that I thought you might have meant something else. We have that plus A*s, Es, Gs and Us.

Whilst it isn't as stupid as some in this thread I get judged for talking with a lisp. When i first went into high school and got bullied for it I always thought "Well done you prick, you can speak properly. Just like thousands of other people." It gets quite grating when people assume that I'm gay because i talk with it.

A lot of people assume that because I have tattoos, multiple piercings, and dress kind of punk-ish that I'm mean. I'm actually really laid back and friendly, as well as a gigantic Tolkien/D&D/Buffy/video game nerd, but a lot of people don't want to approach me. I do get it and I'm not surprised by it, but people that do talk to me/hang out with me usually say how different I am from what they expected.

It's still kind of fun to see the reactions of people when they see the girl with sometimes-blue hair, tattoos, piercings, steel-toed boots and... notice that I'm wearing a World of Warcraft shirt. xD

Oh, also? Being a tomboy-ish lesbian doesn't mean that I hate men. Most of my best friends are guys. You have no idea how many people have assumed this. One girl even came up to me and said(approximately; I don't remember the exact quote), "I just broke up with my boyfriend, and since you hate men, I thought that we could complain about how much guys suck!"

Uh...

I am far from perfect. I am a functioning alcoholic. I am highly arrogant. I assume most people are complete morons until they prove otherwise.

If you can get your hands on some good home brew, well if you like beer in general it will change your entire opinion on how beer 'should' taste.

I get judged because I tend to "get all smart" on people, bringing up philosophical questions or asking people about their perspective on certain things (i.e. How do you feel about the government?). This bothers a lot of people who'd rather just vegetate and be shepherded around their lives not questioning.

I also talk FAR to much and MUCH to quickly.

Lets see, theres my lack of interest in the following fields:

> Alcohol
> Drugs
> Dating
> Piercings
> Sports

My interest in the following fields:

> Video Games
> Anime and Manga
> Western Comics (though not typical superhero comics)
> History (particularly political history)
> International Politics

and the following facets of my appearance and personality:

> I wear suits... a lot
> Long black hair
> Glasses
> Using punctuation and the like correctly (usually)
> My upbeat personality

Fortunately that last point helps me to shrug off most judgement, but from time to time you hear something new and genuinely hurtful, even if it is borne of the accusers ignorance.

I was walking home yesterday and I saw a trail of blood leading up the road. I pointed at it and said to my friend "Is that blood? I think that's blood!"

A woman walking towards us immediately stopped in her tracks, stared at the floor, and muttered at me (in what I would describe as a 'posh' voice) "lower-class shit..."

I was literally speechless. I didn't know what to say until a long time after she'd passed us by. The stuck-up whore! The worst part is, I have no idea what it was about my appearance or behaviour that could have drawn her to this conclusion. I was in school uniform, so it wasn't my clothes. My hair's not particularly outrageous. My voice, whilst definitely Yorkshire-sounding, is neither common nor rough. Apparently she just drew this judgment out of thin air. I guess some people are just like that.

Graaar. It makes me angry.
I have to ask; why didn't you stop her and ask?

Being a high-schooler who does have to spend the majority of his time in uniform I can sympathasize, but I seriously would have stopped this women and ask what her problem was...
It doesn't happen to me very often, so I was pretty much stunned. I was speechless for about half a minute afterwards.

I saw her again today, funnily enough. But I didn't want a confrontation, so - being the mature person I'm not - I just flipped her off as she walked away.

Neither does drinking it, to be fair.

Personally, it's not a taboo or anything for me, I just genuinely don't like the taste. But whether you like it or not has no effect on your personality, it's what you make of it. If you become an alcoholic and start ruining other people's lives with your drunken bahaviour, that makes you a bad person. Similarly, if you go the opposite way and snatch "devil drinks" out of people's hands out of some misguided idea that you're helping them, then that does too.

I sometimes listen to black metal, ergo I`m a satanist
(people tend to forget I sang an old norwegian lullaby a capella over my mothers coffin at her funeral, and also have a broader cd-collection than those whining about the BM-scene)

I have a beard and tattoos, ergo I`m a nogood biker-wannabe
(yup, which is why the local politicians are really careful of how the phrase themselves while talking to me, because it might (and does) come back to haunt them later when their opposites show them pressclippings

I play videogames, ergo I`m a useless nerd
("Did you study abroad? We might as well use you as a translator this entire trip given your fluent spoken english" - Reply: No, I played WoW and other online games for a few years)

I use glasses, ergo I can`t see very well.
(Well, that part is kinda true, but still feel I see the world clearer than those who think that the world itself should be divided between those with glasses, and those without)

There`s not that many stupid things people judge me on, but quite a few things stupid people judge me on.
