For everyone there is a weapon that you think is stupid and never should have been put in a particular game or in some cases ANY game. What's yours???

Any reason, overpowered, completely useless, or simply annoying.

For me: Chainsaws
I've always hated these loud, annoying things being used as weapons. I hate the sound, and if there is any kind of co-op multiplayer you can bet there's going to be someone that ALWAYS steps into your line of fire to run up to enemies screaming "LOL! I haz chainsawz!"

The Stun Grenades in Metal Gear Solid. They instantly trip the alarm, and only knock enemies out for about four seconds. If you're good at stealthing around then you need never use them.

Have to say... The Gunblade.
/Flame Shield
"Hey, cool sword. Oh, it's a gun too? Well, can it shoot anything?

..
It can't? Then what's the point? "

Edit: Let's look at the grip...

That'll cause you some pain.

The grenade launcher, period. Overpowered and easy to use its the bane of nearly all CoD/Modern warfare games

This upcoming weapon for the L4D2 DLC: The Golf Club (or however the hell they spell it)

It's not the weapon that annoys me, it's the community.

Upon announcement every L4D2-related thread had to mention it at least once. It is a FREAKING GOLF CLUB.
Sure, the hype has died down a bit, but I can almost guarantee I'm going to lose my head at the first person who starts going on about it in-game while I'm present.

/boiling blood

I've never been this wound up about a piece of bloody sporting equipment in my life.

The Kasari-Gama, the little chain sythe that you pick up around chapter 5.It does little to stop the werewolves from Kicking your ass and it's basically a crappy version of the Vigorin Flail.

EDIT: FOrgot to mention I'm referring to Ninja Gaiden 2

I agree a chainsaw would make a very bad weapon, imagine it would be all weird

Have you ever used one in real life? It's so fun... *BRRUUMM A NUMMMA NUMM BRAAMMMA NNUMMA NUM NUM* and then the tree splits in half. I don't whats cooler, killing the tree (I only go for downed ones as I don't have any anti-get squished by tree equipment) or then heating your house with it's corpse.

For me, Tanks, if they count. If not, tank cannons.

One person can drive, shoot, and dominate, but a group of people is needed to take one down. And unless the game has destructible environments, they aren't fun to drive.

I'm going to have to go with the gunblade too. It's stupid in every possible way, even if it could shoot the firing would weaken the blade and eventually break the damn thing. (people have actually tried to make gunblades and none have really worked) but more then that I hate unorthodox weapons. You know them, the kid in that RPG use uses a fucking toy as a weapon and somehow kills people with it. That always annoys me and should not exist.
The gunblade, while unorthodox, was reworked in FFXIII to make..slightly more sense.

Back on topic, I agree with the topic starter, chainsaws. As he mentioned, I have witnessed people run in front of me to chainsaw things, and then condescend the team for not managing to get enough kills to keep up with him, while he stood in the doorway and chainsawed zombies. One person on my team tried to shoot zombies using a sniper rifle to aim past him, but he kept moving left and right, so he got shot, knocked out, and then was killed by zombies. For the next three minutes he was then yelling and screaming at us for being terrible teammates. He was promptly kicked.

the MIRV in Fallout 3. It was fun to use, but come on, 8 mini nukes? that is more than overkill. Not to mention that there is a very finite amount of nukes in that game.

Oddly enough, the Sawn off shotgun from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat. Mainly because the same game has a hunting shotgun in it.
Basically, the Hunting shotgun has better stats in everything except handling which it is slightly worse that, carries the same amount of ammo, and uses the same type of ammo. The sawn off just seems a bit worthless compared to the hunting shotgun.

Resistance: Fall of Man

The Splitter

Essentially it's an alien rocket launcher that fires a large cluster of projectiles that, by holding a button, you can stop a few feet in front of you and then "split" them into progressively smaller projectiles that form a progressively wider screen before firing them at the enemy. Sounds, and looks, pretty cool.

It's terrible and serves no purpose whatsoever.

The Splitter starts with 25 shots and I don't believe it has any ammo pick-ups in the entire game. It appears in the second-last level, only on a second playthrough. The standard shot can't even one-hit kill a typical enemy and the "split" projectiles are even weaker. There is literally no reason to use it whatsoever except that it looks amazing.

What makes it even more stupid is that the game already has a weapon that does essentially the same thing more effectively. The LAARK, standard rocket launcher, has a powerful projectile that can be halted at any time mid-flight and redirected AND can be spilt into a large number of small rockets to saturate an area with explosives.

About half the items in SSBB were way overpowered.

The Raygun for example, shoot it at someone and they will flinch and be pushed back. As the gun has a good rate of fire, you can continue shooting until the person is off the stage. Easy KO for you.

Baseball Bat. Throw this at someone and they will get knocked back really far. Easy KO.

(Golden) Hammer, unless you're using a character with the ability to counter or you're on a large stage, you are fucked. Easy KO.

Fan. Walk up to someone and keep tapping A. Get their damage percentage up to a few hundred and then whack them with a quick smash attack. Easy KO.

If a gunblade is a massive sword with a gun shoved into the handle wouldn't a bayonet be a bladegun? But when I say people tried to make actual gunblades I mean more like the ones you do see in final fantasy, swords with pistols built into them.

On topic... Hidden Blades in Assassin's Creed. Stupid? No. Awesome when two? Hellz yeh. Unidentifiable mechanism? Yes. Hence its stupidity.

The Japanese used to give out gun-swords to officers. The pistol, however, aimed out through the cross guard, not the blade. The pistol was inaccurate and the pistol grip made the sword impossible to use without snapping you're wrist.

For me? Gattling Guns. As cool as they are, their impractical and its a stupid idea. Bring back the autocannon!
