Though I am an awful student- Of the 'Never does homework or studies' variety- I have always been particularly polite- to the point that teachers are somewhat fond of me. Not really important, but it does highlight how frustrating the following event was.
So, one English Extension lesson, I walk into the class a minute late, and see a substitute has taken over the room, replacing my regular teacher.
Now, guys don't tend to do E Extension here- don't know why, it just generally doesn't happen. So my class is, save for myself, all ladies.
Well, this teacher certainly wasn't expecting a guy. First she sort of shrugged me off and kept talking- assuming I was just intruding on her lesson to visit a student.
Once that got cleared up and I was told to sit (on the other side of the room, away from the rest of the students) she proceeded to ignore me for the entire lesson, even 'forgetting' to hand me a question sheet she wanted completed. As I was busy working on a poetic piece when this happened, I didn't notice and, consequently, the work didn't get done.
Upon being sent to the principal's office, he refused to listen to reason- "Ok, well, we both know that didn't happen, Joshua, that's just ridiculous"- and I lost four- FOUR- lunches to detention. Given that I use lunches to work on my Software major project, I was quite pissed off.
Moral? No idea. Don't defy teacher assumptions, I guess.
