Any of the bandwagon flavor of the month threads. Wasn't posting during the Zeel meltdowns since I didn't have ME3 yet

It had to be something about drowning in whirlpools. Those were horrible -__-
That was a very weird week indeed...

This wasn't necessarily bad but I'm still surprised by how crazy the forums went when Extra Credits left The Escapist. The whole situation just seemed to have been blown way out of proportion.

Well you guys are sure making that drowning thing sound horrible, you're making me glad I somehow completely missed it.

But anyway I agree with Shoggoth, the Extra Credits thing, everybody acted so stupid, including EC and The Escapist, just everyone was being so stupid.

I was still in the phase of being an Escapist only in that I watched ZP, but even them, the ME3 fallout was completely terrifying to watch unfold. Also drowning threads. On the 3rd day after the ot was posted, the entire off topic board was drowning threads/parodies only. -shudder-

Well the stupidest thread I witnessed, would have to be the one about beta males, and how eastern civilization would have the alpha males kill/castrate them, that was why western civilization was so great, because alpha males in western society did not kill/castrate betas, they simply used them.

I really can't explain it, the guys logic was incredibly flawed, and it really was just a pseudoscience attempt at anti-Muslim/anti-democrat propaganda.

Remember that one guy who posted like a 6000 word essay about some 10 year old community that he thought he was an idol of? That was some weird shit. Like, mentally unstable weird shit.

Pretty much any Zeel thread. It was like watching a monkey throw it's own feces... only not as endearing.
No way! Zeel was hilarious! The most dedicated troll I have ever seen! He breezed past at least 3 Banhammers and carried on trolling for great justice!

One of the funniest things I have ever seen on this site.
Seconded.

That man/woman/thing was was an amazing character, the type that only appears in forums every few years and when the inevitable hammer falls they ascend into myth and legend.

Spambot threads strike me as the one thread we could do without, sure people like Daystar derail them and it's funny when it happens but it makes me wonder about those captchas. (especially the advertising ones, fvbcggjhnfgd should not be an acceptable answer!)

Mythrandia?

If it's not then that makes two people who posted a thread like that, which is a little depressing.

I think most of my 'stupidest thread evars' come from the pre-2011 days, back when we still had all the forum celebrities like Max and Furburt. There's a lot now that make me think 'oh not this again' but none that are stupid as such, at least not to the degree that some of the 2009/2010 debates could get. Especially those vs threads and the fallout from how close Zynga got to winning March Madness. (or did they actually win? I can't even remember it was so irrelevant to my life, but some people on here were acting like the Book of Revelations was being enacted before our eyes.)

I can't really think of any that were too stupid that I had read but the closest would be about Jigsaw and how someone considered him a hero and not in any way a murderer. The OT pretty much disappeared from that thread after their second post which came between about two pages of others that completely debunked their theory.

You missed it?! The poor off topic forum was full of them. And I was suspended so I couldn't even comment, was just left posting on WarCry at the time -__-
I think I saw one of them, but I was really busy for a week and a half and I didn't even have time to check the Internet, all I know is that when I came back everybody was talking about how awful they were and how they wanted to see those threads dead, also a lot of jokes about them.
I was really confused and had no idea what people were talking about, really the same thing that happened with the MLP thing but in a much lower scale.
[sub]Yeah I missed that too, my reaction was "Wait, I live the Internet for six months, and Call of Duty is now gay but ponies are cool??
What the fuck happened while I was gone?"
[sub]It was pretty funny.[/sub][/sub]
