Also, WHAT WRITER ONLY WRITES A NIGHT BEFORE A SHOOTING!? Doh well, thanks.
It does go a long way towards explaining the prequel trilogy, haw haw haw.
Witty comment, witty comment. Ha ha, English laugh.

The Inheritance cycle...

Author: "Hey guys I've just thought of a really amazing idea. The evil dude IS ERAGON'S FATHER!"

Publisher: "..... Okay we could handle all the other identical to Star Wars plot points but really?"

Author: "Shit... Good point, okay then five minutes later it turns out it was actually Brom who was his father all along, nobody will see the double dad dilemma coming!"

Publisher: /Facepalm "Fine, just so long as I get to add another money room to my money palace!"

1: The little girl (Who may I remind you dies halfway through) grows up to be the mad nun lady.
2: Kesslar is you from the future.
3: The guy who ordered your best friend killed is the son of some random guy you killed.

I'll let you guess what they're from...

Final Fantasy VIII

"Oh, btw, all of you that have been working together, SURPRISE! You are from the same orphanage! You just all forgot due to using summon magic. Neat huh?"
"That IS neat! Now let us never speak of it again."

Inception . . .

. . .ok, it's probably not the same thing as what ya'll mean, but I was on my floor gibbering and screaming for that goddamn top to fall over. I'm pretty sure the director's cut of the film is going to be exactly the same up until that last shot, which will be extended by five seconds, only Christopher Nolan will walk into frame, flick the top off the table and flip off the camera.
If you wait through the credits, you hear the sound of the top falling over.
I actually thought it was brilliant how the entire crux of the film was summed up in a single visual metaphor.

I think the one that annoyed me the most in recent memory was MGS4.

MGS2: The Patriots are a secret organisation that run a behind-the-scenes global dictatorship. Cool!
MGS3: The Patriots were originally a group of weapons technology developers from China, America and the Soviet Union who pooled their resources together in order to win World War II. Then the Cold War broke out and they splintered off into different factions. Neat!
MGS4: Yeah, The Patriots are those douchebags who you talked to on your radio in MGS3. Also, the sweet, kind-hearted, movie-obsessed medic chick is actually that totally ruthless, evil scientist who experiments on humans that we mentioned a few times. What?

Fucking hell, even before I saw the movie, I called that fucking twist ending. My sister saw it opening day and was yelling about how it was "omgomgomg best movie evar the ending is soooo mind blowing omg!!!" and I asked her "it ends with some 'is it a dream or is it reality' bullshit, doesn't it?". She asked me how the fuck I could know that.

Ok, so maybe it's not the stupidest twist ever, but I still hate the fuck out of it because it's such an obvious fucking way to end the movie.

The ending of the movie version of The Mist
The dad kills the rest of the survivors including his son, only to run out of bullets before he reaches himself. Now he has to die alone when the evil creatures come out of the mist to rip him apart. But wait! moments after he kills his son, the mist clears and the army rolls by! My god they are saved!.....oh wait
Hehehe... I loved every second of that movie. The ending is so wonderfully dark.

I've never met anyone beside myself who likes the ending though...

Blacks Ops. "Suprise Resnov was an Imagination!"
I didn't realise that was meant to be a twist, I thought you were supposed to realise that. Fucking stupid.

Several moments in MW2, namely Captain Price being alive and in a Russian Gulag, Russians attacking the US, and the EMP scene... I was just thinking "What the fuck..." The entire time.

WHY IS HIS WIFE AN ARM?!?

Seriously, that was....mindblowingly bad.
I was waiting to see how many posts would be made before someone suggested this. Soon as I read the topic title, that instantly popped into my head.

"No! I must kill the demons" he shouted
The radio said "No, John. You are the demons"
And then John was a zombie.
Classic.
Hmm... most recently, the Scott's room plottwist in CAD.
"His room, behind these huge steel door, is completely normal.
...or is it?
Oh, and by the way, Scott is mindcontrolled by his pet penguin."
...okay, I can honestly say I didn't saw THAT one coming.

If we're talking about cliche twists, I have to with 'it was all a dream'... and propably also every variation of 'No, generic hero, I am your father/mother/brother/sister/dog/hamster/toothbrush'. Maybe except for the Star Wars one...

I like it, though I'm a sucker for works that have the balls to pull that kind of ending off.

OT: While not the stupidest, I saw RE5's revelation that
Jill's alive
coming from the damn marketing campaign. I'm unsure whether or not Capcom really expected us to buy it or just used it as a drama point to get Chris into the fray.

The stupidest is probably Digital Fortress by Dan Brown. I mean, the bad guy manages to dupe the entire NSA into infecting their ultimate code-breaking machine with a virus...by telling them it's an unbreakable code. I mean shit guys, do you not own a license for anti-virus software? You're the fucking NSA...what's that, National Stupidity Agency?

Zing!

Yeah but you gotta remember its made for 12 year olds, they're stoopid.

OT: I wanna be different here and say Avatar: Last Airbender (The series)
I was LOVING the whole thing until the end, if you've seen it you know what i mean, it comes out of no where and BAM Plotbending at its finest.

Not so much "Stupid" But it comes out of no where, was unexpected and solved everything because the writers screwed up, which i guess can be seen as stupid.

Yeah, what was that? Really, I was looking forward to seeing how they would get around the whole pacifist thing, and then bam, magic macguffin power solves all. HOORAY!

I got a few.
Liberty Prime Fallout 3: the brotherhood is losing how do they win well they find a giant nuke throwing robot that's how what thinking of something like a more advanced power armor or laser that makes too much sense
The ending to the most recent Dr Who season: they were pulling plot points out of their ass at that point and introducing points as if they were already established episodes ago
Transformers 3: I went to see this with a friend and had no real big issues until the end "we've got one rocket to destroy the big plot device" but wait the cliche changes because they never fire the damn thing anyways my only though is what happened to that rocket
