Game 1, I guessed as a joke and was so disappointed when I found out I was right... "Hey, that guy stole that dead body and the dead guy came back fine later? And there were gears found at the scene? Maybe he's a robot! Haha! Hey! Maybe the whole town is robots! HA HA HA--WHAT?! I WAS RIGHT?! WHAT KIND OF MYSTERY IS THIS?!"

Game 2, I didn't guess. There was no possible way to guess it. I mean come on! Really convenient hallucinogens that make everyone in town hallucinate the same exact thing?

My understanding of this game is much more fractured, incomplete, and stilted, so this may not be so after all, but...
I was working under the assumption that this is like Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. In Higurashi, each arc had differing details, yes, but there was no question that they actually happened and even the lies and delirium gave you clues to the truth. I thought the same would apply to Umineko. But no, it turns out that almost all the arcs are written fiction. Terrific. I wanted a mystery to solve. How can you do this to me? How can I trust the clues I'm given now? How was I supposed to figure out that Shanon and Kanon were the same person when the clues show them as two separate people in two separate bodies in a room full of witnesses? How was I supposed to figure out that Kinzo was dead prior to the hurricane when his family, who demands to see him, sees him up and about and causing trouble?

Every game created by Blizzard since Diablo II - not because the twist was bad. But it is the SAME ONE every time. "It was all part of the bigger plan" BS. They did it in every game since D2 and I will place money that D3 will be the same.

I actually quite liked that one.
Yeah same but the runing away from the wind scene was pretty stupid.

OP: No you don't see if the top stops spinning, personally I do not think it does

The thing with the forest "coming alive" at the end of Macbeth.
That really sucked.

The last few chapters of Condemned 2 as well.
What was so bad about that?

Was there a movie version or something where the tree people from Lord of The Rings attacked, because from what I remember it was just people holding bushes in front of themselves.

Final Fantasy VIII

"Oh, btw, all of you that have been working together, SURPRISE! You are from the same orphanage! You just all forgot due to using summon magic. Neat huh?"
"That IS neat! Now let us never speak of it again."
Oh goody, I'm not the only one who thought this was terrible!

Some of the other twists being mentioned... like the "It was all a dream" and "I AM YOUR FATHER!" tropes... I feel they aren't *inherently bad*, it's just that they're overused and often terribly done, so they ruin it for the stories that try to use them WELL.

Just my opinion, anyway. Maybe I'm just trying to justify my love of Link's Awakening and original Star Wars.

I really don't like it when when a person sees a horrible vision of the future, works their ass off to try and prevent it and this actually somehow causes said horrible future to happen anyways. Okay, this isn't the worst twist, but when the prophecy happens anyway as if for the hell of it, it really sucks.

Like how in Starwars III Anakin sees padme dying and then turns to the darkside to keep it from happening, but that's what... somehow... makes her die. 'Cause... she just dies. It was mentioned in the thread before but it needs repeating. Considering her personality in the series, it would have made MUCH more sense for her to ignore his crimes and actively work to capture and redeem him.

Can people actually just die like that, anyways?

Also, John Connor (terminator) being conceived because of the war he's trying to prevent. NO!
NO NO NO NO NO!

Silent Hill (Game)
Silent Hill (Movie)
Silent Hill Shattered Memories
The first Silent Hill game, that was a non-canon ending. In Shattered memories,
Its not a dream, its a false memory/delusion, not a dream
and in the Movie, They're still trapped in the other-world, not a dream. The husband just woke up, sensing their presence because they were there, just in a different dimention.

Final Fantasy 7: Dirge of Cerberus

Two major twists:

Vincent is...ugh...he's basically the harbinger of death for the planet. He is part of the last WEAPON the planet creates when it decides to pack its bags and leave, as it were.

Hojo uploaded his brain to the internet so he could take over the brain of the leader of a group of super mutants Shinra kept locked beneath their city.

Both of them incredibly contrived and very VERY stupid. It's pure Moon Logic, but made worse because the story wants you to take it seriously.

The twist in Yahtzee's Mogworld... *dodges a tomato* wait, let me explain. The twist itself was great, I personally would not have seen it coming... IF it was not spoiled on the back cover.
Also, The Village... Really M Night? It was the present all along so they are sending a blind girl running through the forest?

Fucking hell, even before I saw the movie, I called that fucking twist ending. My sister saw it opening day and was yelling about how it was "omgomgomg best movie evar the ending is soooo mind blowing omg!!!" and I asked her "it ends with some 'is it a dream or is it reality' bullshit, doesn't it?". She asked me how the fuck I could know that.

Ok, so maybe it's not the stupidest twist ever, but I still hate the fuck out of it because it's such an obvious fucking way to end the movie.

The ending of the movie version of The Mist
The dad kills the rest of the survivors including his son, only to run out of bullets before he reaches himself. Now he has to die alone when the evil creatures come out of the mist to rip him apart. But wait! moments after he kills his son, the mist clears and the army rolls by! My god they are saved!.....oh wait
Hehehe... I loved every second of that movie. The ending is so wonderfully dark.

I've never met anyone beside myself who likes the ending though...
I liked that ending...

You're not alone! :D

Batman: HUSH

The Empire Strikes Back. That made no sense. You already know by Episode III that Anakin is Luke's dad. So why does everyone call the climax of ESB a twist??
You are aware that The Empire Strikes Back came out long before Episode 3 right?
Also on the subject of Star Wars, The scrappy underdogs (IE The Ewoks) defeat the big bad guys (The Empire).... Theirs inspiring, and then there is just.... stupid.

"it was all a dream"

Really? So then the experience was a complete waste of time.
Which movie had the 'it was all a dream' twist specifically? I know that a soap opera did that to fix a couple of seasons worth of colossal fuck-ups, but I cn't think of any movies that had that type of twist.
Open Your Eyes had a 'it was all a dream twist'. AND IT WORKED AND WAS REALLY AWESOME. Like, actually. So there.

Star ocean till the end of time, it turns out that the entire universe and characters within it, and by association the previous two games and the not at the time released fourth game, are all a video game where, over time, the characters and monsters became sentient and began to operate outside of the programmed perimeters, seriously square enix? This ruined the rest of the game for me, I couldn't take anything seriously after this. Keep in mind this was portrayed as a "serious" scifi story up till that point. I dare you to beat "You and everthing you knew were a video game all this time!"
