What is the most stupid, funny or embarrasing death you've ever had in a video game? i think i speak for everyone when i say that the classic one is when youve brawled relentlessley with a level boss for half an hour, and then you stagger out of the dust cloud, a conquering hero, when a minion runs into you finishing off your remaining health, ouch! i think that hurts the pride more than it does the flesh

Would getting gunned down by Boltgun-wielding exclamation-marks in front of the Washington Monument count?
Damn me failing to install Fallout 3 mods correctly...
And using a grenade-launcher that does 0 damage for some reason...
But it is so hard to hit exclamation-marks...

In Halo 3, I threw a spike grenade aimed for an still opponents back. But unfortunately I missed him and the grenade stucked to the wall, went off and I killed myself.

I killed myself with my own flash grenade in MW2 while I was in Last Stand.

You can have much fun with grenades. Like forgetting that the fuses might not be of the same length in every game, or losing count of the seconds when you're cooking a grenade. Not to mention the good old "Throw grenade at a second story window, only to miss and have it fall down on your head."

I somehow managed to nuke three of my last characters(healer, two warriors, thought I had selected a heal) in Disgaea 3 with my level 700.

The good thing was that it removed all lesser enemies(two would have healed back to 100% at the end of the round), the bad thing was that I no longer had any protection from the two level 1100 enemies.

Spoiler: Some additional information for those who have never played Nethack

A cockatrice corpse turns you to stone when you touch it without gloves or boots, you can also eat it but it's a bad idea [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide]. When you have gloves equipped, you can wield the corpse as a weapon that turns everything to stone(a golem will turn in a stone golem). A Succubus(or Incubus, if your character is female) can, if your charisma is too low, undress you. This is a problem [http://nethack.wikia.com/wiki/Instadeath] when there are a lot of monsters on the screen, or when you're wielding a cockatrice corpse.

Mortaring my own building In BBC2, I got shot in the arm whirled round at the most inopportune of moments and targeted the window sill!

Or killing my entire squad due to a piece of the bush I'm hiding in wafting past the scope at the last second and once again mortar fun!

When I was playing Fear on computer my friend wanted me to keep playing a little while longer to show me something but because we were running late for the movies, I ran and jumped down the ladder in front of me instead of climbing down.

My friend wanted to see if I would get a scare because when you position yourself to climb down the ladder you see Alma in front of you and then disappears and when you finish climbing down and turn from the ladder Fettal is right in front of your face. Instead I jumped right over him and it ruined the entire shock scare.

P.S. I have done many dumb things that were really funny but unfortunately I can't remember them all.

I was playing the final escape scene, at the bridge in Left 4 Dead 2. My friends I was playing with hadn't completed it yet. When the Tank popped up, I decided to take one for the team, and go one on one with it to keep it distracted, while they all escaped. Turns out I'm a bit more 'dodgy' than I originally anticipated, and I brought the damn thing down. I was pumped, and doing a back flip. Then, out of nowhere, a charger shows up, and bowls me off the side of the bridge...I was an unstoppable, immortal bad ass for 17 seconds.

I fell into a pit.

It was just lying there!
I could swear I saw something shiny. thought it was some collectable, and dived for the bottom. There was none.

Damn you, wonky camera!

There was this one time... in one of the Halos, I think it was the first time I played online. I was driving the Warthog, was getting bored as everyone was shooting around... it may not have even been online but with friends as I can't remember which... and I suddenly shouted, "Oh! Off the cliff we go!" and I drove us off a cliff.

Everything after that is a bit hazy... but I remember being in a small space, like a coffin. So I think I was in fact playing with friends.

By accident? I think starting up a helicopter and not noticing that there was a SAM no more than 70-130 feet away. Needless to say the SAM was not pleased and shot a missile at me... I died. Just Cause 2 by the way.

stealthing around that deathclaw infested town in the north of fallout 3 and i thought it would be a good idea to hit one with a baseball bat...
or the old multiplayer on F.E.A.R. had the TK = suicide thing on, sprayed at a team mate, took damage, turned around looking for the source and sprayed at another team mate. it had been along night ok!

After a mission in gta4 I had only a little life left, so I wanted to go to the other side of the street to eat a hot dog. Suddenly a car hit me, it wasn't even driving fast, just a bit but that was enough to kill me. I had to do the whole mission again.

Fallout 3, a really STUPID couple of glitches.

In one, part of the large tower in The Pitt's Steel Yard becomes no clip, and I fall right through it to my death. Resetting the system sometimes fixes this glitch, but when it happens, it's annoying.

In another, in Broken Steel after I had alreadybeaten the game and destroyed The Citadel, I found a dumb glitch with a small group of BoS members. They were right outside of Megaton, and if I engaged in combat with them I died. They didn't kill me, I just died randomly. And just in case one of them popped off an UBERSHOT at me that I didn't notice, I tried engaging them again with the Chinese Stealth Suit (I had Silent Running and 100 Stealth) and a silenced weapon. The second I shot one of them, I died. Stupid as hell.

how could we forget when youre in a heated battle on Worms 3D and you mistake the jump button for the menu button and jump to your death

also i was watching a friend play spiderman 2 once, he rather skillfully reached the top of the empire state building (the skill being in that he was holding a villain and couldnt wall climb, he had to swing) he then jumped off the building, fell hundreds of stories and pile drived this villain into the pavement, who then got up and ran, a quick persuit later and my friend was holding the same villain off the edge of a one story high terrace, he threw the villain, the villain died, oh the irony

Toss-up between two Banshe-related deaths in Halo ODST. Once, I blew up a Banshee and the debris smashed me, another time I plasma-pistol EMP-ed a Banshee and the whole thing fell on me. Yet Another Stupid Death.
