Playing Coop with a mate, we were at a doorway and I asked him to open the door (had a frag grenade to throw), well he opened the door and just as I threw the grenade he leaned out, it hit him in the head and landed at his feet, I just stood there going "oh shit...." then after a second or 2 (that may have saved me if I had of started running sooner) I realised I needed to run, so I turned, took a few steps and BANG!, it sent me flying.

My mate said the grenade just came up on his screen and that (and I quote) "When you can read M68 hand grenade on the side theres just no point in trying to run"

Was hilarious tho

The Buryman Script in Pokemon Red. Instead of the mother Marowak in the Pokemon Tower, I got a man crawling out of the ground, and when I lost to him, he said "Finally, Fresh Meat" and dragged me down with him. Cut to a "Game Over" screen where it showed him eating me.

Lies.

...Wait, seriously? Why the hell didn't I ever get a glitch that cool?

Yyyyeah, I'm not 100% sure I'm buying this...I've turned up precious little credible information about it, and while we all know what bastards Nintendo are, based on what I did find I'm having a hard time believing that they're evil sadistic bastards (although they still won't release Mother 3 in America, so maybe scratch the whole "not sadistic" thing). Being able to find any kind of visual record of it would make me a lot more willing to believe it. Still, it's a cool beans story regardless, and if it really did happen...that's twisted.

Mortaring my own building In BBC2, I got shot in the arm whirled round at the most inopportune of moments and targeted the window sill!

Yeah, same as you, except I mortarr'd a [sub]tiny[/sub] tree branch that was infront of me.

well, i know on several occasions on mario i've been taken out by gumba's, but the most emabrrising i've seen was when i was playing L4D2 with a buddy, we turned on god mode, and took a shortcut in the hotel level to skip the whole thing by jumping off the side and crashing through a ceiling window to the bottom floor where the safe room is. Apparently this takes more skill than i thought because i went first, broke through okay, ran to the safe room, buddy jumps, gets to close to the egde from where the window used to be, then the screen goes red and his character is hanging from the ceiling helpless. If you've played any of the L4D games you know that if you are stuck on a legde, you cant pull yourself up, someone has to help you up, but since i couldn't get back up thier, he was, how do you say, "boned", so we turned off god mode and he died because he was then in a spot he wasnt supposed to be in.

In Halo 3, I threw a spike grenade aimed for an still opponents back. But unfortunately I missed him and the grenade stucked to the wall, went off and I killed myself.

Halo 3 definitely wins the award for stupidest deaths, most of which have something to do with the Spartan Laser/ Bubble Shield. Every time I get together with some friends to play Halo it results in some kind of idiotic yet hilarious death.

Well my stupidest death was not quite so long ago actually
It was stupid in it's awesomeness. I have a quick shotgun class that's just running around shooting people. Now... This class has a throwing knife. I was playing on a favela map and it was going quite nice. You know that place in the middle of the map where there is a tight corridor and a plank going over it? Right in front of it there is a window. So...

I was running and got into that corridor, I saw a guy up on that plank and threw a knife in his direction, right after I threw the knife I started running forward got up to the window, I started climbing and BAM! Dead... I killed myself with my own throwing knife... That wouldn't be SO bad if not for the fact that it was the final kill for my enemies, and thus it was shown on the killcam... and thus everyone saw it.

I can't live with the shame...

PS. Oh! Another one! I once killed myself with my own stun grenade, I threw it a little off and it bounced off a wall and instantly killed me. I don't know did it bang in my face or something, I had full health...
I guess it was a headshot...

NetHack is the king of stupid deaths, naturally. I think there's a site that collects them.

My favourite personal one is from the original Saints' Row, though. I was doing the last Drug Dealing mission, and I used to just throw a grenade on the trunk of the enemies' car and beat feet, killing all of them. Well, one time I did this, ran away to wait for the next, and then I'm mysteriously killed by a fallen carcass... of the car I had just blown up.

I was playing Co-op with mine sis in RES5 and suddenly she says 'Look out! Behind you!' and i said 'What?!' and got chainsawed in mine back(It happend 2 times).
