I stutter myself, and yes, it does get kind of annoying if someone does it...but you kind of don't have a choice if you do or not...

Basically when I'm talking, I'll be fine until for some reason...brick wall in my speech for some unknown reason, even if I've said the word about a billion times before with no problem...It feels like you're running a track, and some jerk just decide to put surpise walls/spike pits around randomly for no good reason.

It depends on the stutterer.
If said person doesn't mind me finishing a sentence then i'll happily do that.
If on the other hand he/she hates having his/her sentences finished I won't.
And of course if it were a situation where I couldn't possibly wait for said person to finish I would of course do so.

Stuttering does kind of bug me because I hate when people stop in the middle of a sentence when I'm interested (unless done for hilarity)

But for the msot it doesn't bug me, I used to stutter.. Well, explode. I used to want to talk so fast that I'd trip over words before I'd formed them leading me to puffing my cheeks out like a blowfish and "exploding" with frustration. I also had a slight lisp and used to make up words as I learned to talk too early and used to say words without forming them properly. It's all fixed now but sometimes I slur words together, and I still talk pretty fast.

Anyway enough of my childhood, I usually don't finish off their sentences as I used to hate it done to me when I was younger. But sometimes I jokingly make a "hurry up" gesture if I know the perosn.

I have something similar to a stutter. If I start a sentence, I will automatically repeat the first 2 syllables of that sentence before continuing. I don't stutter after that, and I don't actually know why I even do that.

I don't mind people finishing my sentences for me if I get stuck on a word, which happens on occasion when I have to explain myself, but otherwise it's quite irritating.

Boys usually stutter if they're nervous about talking to a girl they like. That's ok to laugh at. Not if it is a serious condition.

I never finish a stutterer's sentences. I've only known one though, and I was never interested in what he said anyway. I always just pretended to listen to what he said, and interjected my silence with stuff like: yeah, huh, really?, oh, etc, said in a way that would indicate I didn't give a crap. Wasn't because of his stutter though, he was just the kind of person who would start flinging tonnes of boring stuff at you. Like if he saw me playing some game he'd come over and start spouting a lot of crap I didn't care about that is only remotely relevant to the game. Stuttering didn't make it better though, only meant it would take longer for him to shut up and let me enjoy whatever I was doing.

I stutter, but not to the extent where someone has to finish my own sentances.
If it was that bad I would actually appreciate it if someone finished my sentances....

Damnit I'm really inconsistent with my stuttering. Sometimes I can speak absolutely fine, other times I start speaking then forget what I'm talking about and end up freezing.

I'm at my worst when I'm reading out loud, though. I can read just fine, but when I speak along with it my eyes just jump everywhere and I can't concentrate. Kind of bad, considering I'm in a writing class and need to read stuff out fairly often.

Has anyone got any ideas on how to overcome stuttering? I really would like to get over this.

I stutter on occasion and sometimes it gets outta hand but It usually stays at a tolerable level. When it does get bad though, I can usually finish my sentences and then make fun of my stutter

I used to stutter almost every sentence, and sometimes I still do, but most people let me finish, so I don't really know.

From what I understand, if you finish a stutterer's sentences, it only serves to aggravate the stutter more. If they're agitated or self-concious, it just makes it worse. I work with a cook who stutters, and I've never finished his sentences for him. I don't really see the point. He'll get there, and if nothing else it's like Demitri Martin says, "A stutter isn't a disability, it's a word with a drumroll."
