Lot's of speculation, wonder if he's actually involved

The development comes two months after Russell Taylor, the former executive director of the Jared Foundation, which Fogle started to raise awareness to and combat childhood obesity, was arrested on federal child pornography charges. Taylor, 43, attempted suicide on May 6 at the Marion County Jail, and was placed on life support, but his health has improved, according to officials."

It seems it might also be a linked case, oh boy I hope no subway heads are involved.

"Authorities did not say if Tuesday?s search warrants were connected to the arrest of his former associate."

Which could also mean it could just be for something else, possibly not CP.

Yeah, no official information or results given at this time, so it's pure speculation to say he's being investigated for the same charge. They could be looking for corroborating emails or something to establish...something. No point stating anything about Jared specifically at this time.

Can't you still get charged with possession of loli porn as long as the character's ages are explicit somewhere in the story? I remember reading about someone getting arrested for that in the US a couple years ago. I personally think loli is gross, but if it's not harming real life children I don't see how it could be considered the same crime.

I hadn't heard about a recent US case.

The last one I remember hearing about was Canada. I thought we, the US, had an "It's art and, therefore, protected, but we're just gonna search through all your stuff if we find any to make sure you're not engaged in or viewing the diddling of actual children" kind of approach.

I do agree though, there's nothing about actual straight up loli porn that interests me and people who ARE really interested in it creep me right the fuck out...but I'd much rather they be looking at artistic representations than real life kids.

After all, nobody was harmed in the making of said representations.

Basically this means it's not protected under the First Amendment due to it lacking any artistic merit. It's a really, really tricky law that has fairly inconsistent rulings. If someone tried to mount a defense by citing freedom of speech in a theoretical case about loli porn I guarantee it would be countered by obscenity law.

Following on into the main CP article, it appears that the law surrounding drawings/art is...nebulous.

"Drawings or animations that depict sexual acts involving children but are not intended to look like photographs may also be considered by some to be child pornography."

'May also be considered by some' isn't exactly concrete and I'd fight that idea even though the subject repulses me.
