If you're into foreign stuff, I say listen to Dir en Grey's Withering to Death album. It's not quite as... screaming, as their previous and later work.

They play through Surtur Rising, take a beer break, then come back and play whatever their viking hearts desire.
I am so fucking excited.

Tool, mastodon especially their last album crack the skye, and the vocals are hard for some people to get over, but between the buried and me is really good, specifically their last two albums and EP. A real good mix of sounds from other genre keeps them really fresh.

Something that sounds similar to Mark Lanegan...familiar with Alice In Chains? How about Soundgarden?

Perhaps Screaming Trees would be more appropriate to sound like Mark Lanegan's solo music since it's Mark Lanegan singing? That or Mad Season since he sings on a song and it contains members of Screaming Trees...

Budgie is an awesome band if you like the early 70's stuff like Sabbath. Imagine a cross between Rush and Black Sabbath you get these guys. Zoom Club and Breadfan are their two most well known songs (theyre on Brutal Legend) and theyre both great tracks. There's a reason why metallia covered their songs...
