It's the summer, and I once again want to test the waters of the MMO gaming scene. Please tell me your favorite free to play MMO, what kind of game it is, and why you like it. If you feel really strongly about an MMO that ISN'T free to play, you can tell me about that to.

Age of Conan is Free to Play now.

Just installed it again, and I'm liking it so far.
Worth to try out at least.

I'd recommend Spiral Knights. It's like Four Swords crossed with steampunk crossed with adorable.

Runes of Magic is pretty good. You can gain an advantage by spending money but it's still fun without spending a penny

The only free to lay game that I still love is Guild Wars which is a ORPG (it isn't really an MMORPG). I did play Champion Online although the only think I like about that is the character creation since it's huge.
Also City of Heroes is f2p and I read that Hellgate London is coming back as a f2p as well.

Erm. Some would call Team Fortress 2 a war-themed hat simulator, I guess. Other than that, microtransactions ruin most.
Fixed that for you, good sir.

Spiral Knights and Vindictus are pretty neat games. Guild Wars is worth checking out if you can drop the fee to purchase it, it's free after that.

The MMOs I recommend:

Lord of the Rings Online
Dungeons and Dragons Online
Champions Online
Age of Conan
Everquest II Extended
Dungeon Fighter Online.

Look into all of the,, they're all fun and free to play.

I've used up so many hours of my life playing Maple Story.
The main reason I liked it was because of the people on it.
They were always fun and were just about the best people I've ever met, comparable to the Brony community.

I would recommend Vindictus. It's a prime example of why I like the F2P model since I get to play, be entertained for a few hours, get bored of the repetition, and then stop.

You are ina tank WW2 era going against other tanks on 2 teams there are LOADS to choose from USA Narzi Germany and USSR tanks there also artillery too.
I like it cos its different ie not all spells swords and that it works you can Lv up train your crew rounds can be fast and long its also funny sometimes when your team gets its arse handed to it.
its also free and looks sweet to

I'm actually playing WOW now that it's free. I used to be addicted to it when I had to pay for it, but since I can only go to level 20, I just use it to dick around occasionally instead of waste my life.

Pirates of the Burning sea (PotBS) is a very good game if you have an interest in ship combat in the 18th century. Yeah, pretty niche but it's good fun with great endgame PVP called Port Battles. It's free-2-play, but you won't get the best out of the game unless you pay. You can pay for only one month and that gives you all the neccessary benefits like full economy slots and ship storage and stuff, so tht's pretty cool. Simply a one time payment of $10.

I second this. Though it's a bit too focused on the grind and you will probably want to shell out some money just to get a few more garage spaces, I find the game to be lots of fun, especially since I just have fun with the tanks I have instead of being obsessed with getting a higher tier vehicle. I'm not sure if it falls under the classification of an MMO though, since most of your time will be spent jumping into matchmaking sessions of 30-odd players.

If you haven't played Team Fortress 2 yet, I'd recommend that as well. Again, It's not an MMO (though it shares some similarities with many MMORPG's now in the form of random drops, trading, and an overall pseudo-grind approach if you want all the unlockables) but in my opinion it's the best damn multiplayer game ever made.
