I am currently looking for JRPGs for both the DS and 3DS. I am currently playing through Bravely Default and now I am in a serious mood for more JRPGs. As far as games I have already, I have Pokemon White 2 and Chrono Trigger for DS and Fire Emblem Awakening, Bravely Default, Pokemon X and Y, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. I hear the Etrian Odyssey series is good and I really want to get the previous Fire Emblem titles. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey. First person dungeon crawler with an interesting (if ham-fisted and devoid of subtlety) plot and the same demon negotiation/fusion mechanics as the main SMT titles.

I highly recommend the Golden Sun series. In fact, I demand you look into them now.

Two GBA games and a DS game have been released thus far.

I'll suggest one for each platform...

GBA
Riviera: The Promised Land -Innovative combat system and waifu dating who doesn't love that.

DS
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies -You can get this dirt cheap online, has awesome graphics for the platform, great combat system, and tons of hours of gameplay with replayability out the yang.

3DS
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner - Soul Hackers -Resurrection of a game the West thought we'd never get... cyberpunk atmosphere and demons demons demons.

GBA
Final Fantasy IV, V and, VI Advanced
Tales of Phantasia

...that's all I've got really...the Advanced remakes of FFIV - VI are excellent though. If you can stomach the horrible plot, Kingdom Hearts 3DS is a lot of fun too. I've also had a lot of fun with Shin Megami Tensei IV but I'm finding it difficult at the moment.

Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume for DS. It's difficult to the point that I never finished it (bloody escort missions), but if you've beaten SMTIV on normal difficulty it shouldn't be too bad by comparison.

Any of the Mario & Luigi games are worthwhile, but particularly Bowser's Inside Story- the shortest but also the sweetest IMO.

Go for the Fire Emblem series.
Might be a bit difficult at first but after you grasp the ins and outs of the game...
= pure fun!
+ they are challenging.

And of course the pokemon games :)

Etrian Odyssey 1 (or Untold), 2, 3 and 4. First-person dungeon crawler with turn-based combat. Exploration and map creation is the main draw of the game.

Rune Factory 1, 2, 3 and 4. Combining the farming/relationships of Harvest Moon with hack-n-slash dungeon crawling gameplay.
