Tomorrow's Christmas and my nephews are coming over. They're 4 year olds and I would need some game to keep them occupied. How about something in flash, or generally PC (also: roms)?

It would be best if it was pretty basic, very easy and kid friendly (only few gore): also note that they can barely use 1 analog and a couple buttons. So far my best bet has been the castle in Mario 64, where they can roam freely without dying. Got any suggestions?

I wanted to add that button mashing games without much story (think Track 'n Fields) are good too. Or semi simulator of... something harmless and colored.

Viva pinata and lego star wars sound good.

Some kids of that age or a bit younger I know loved Smash Bros Brawl.

In a stage where there were no enemies and you couldn't die. And even if you did, you'd just reappear soon.
They loved seeing the characters jump around and that amused them for ages.

Rock, paper, scissors.

Wait...you can throw rocks...and get paper cuts...and cut yourself with scissors...WHY DO WE LET KIDS PLAY THIS?

I don't think you can die in Harvest Moon, and Animal Crossing is always a nice time sink.

Donkey Kong Country Returns. Oh and Splatterhouse. That game'll make them into REAL men.

4 years old, huh? That's going to be a bit tough, seeing as most of us weren't much younger than that when we started. Still, the Mario games would work, as would something simple like Wii Sports. If 4 year olds still like barney these days, and you have some way of getting it, Barney's Hide and Seek for the Sega Genesis kept my little sister entertained for hours when she was too young to play anything else.

Ignore the negative comments that are coming out of the guy doing the LP, it manages to keep kids of the right age endlessly entertained. It worked for my 6 year old cousin a year or so ago, too.

Other options include the Sonic games, Contra, and if you're willing to play with them, older beat 'em ups in co-op mode, like Golden Axe and Streets of Rage. Basically, think back to what you were playing when you were that age. Chances are that at 4 years old, these kids aren't going to have the bias against classic games that kids who are a few years older and have more gaming experience usually do, so go ahead and get them started on some of the classics.

My 4 year old nephew LOVES New Super Mario Bros. Wii and the LEGO series. They're not super-easy for someone his age, but he still plays them whenever he's here.

And uh, I wouldn't suggest your Mario 64 idea unless you plan on strict supervision. They'll probably stumble into a level by accident, and then things will just get complicated. Trust me on that <_<

But seriously, on the computer? Maybe Zoo Tycoon.
I seriously can't imagine little kids being able to figure out Zoo Tycoon. Unless you just let them wander a zoo you made, anyways.

(Sorry if this is a double triple post, my internet connection decided to drop as soon as I tried to send this.)

I don't know of any equivalents out today, but I actually liked easy point and click games like Ruff's Bone or Magic Schoolbus Games. They probably have something like that associated with shows that are out now.
