Suggestions for a properly scary game

Title says it all, just wanting some suggestions as to which games I should purchase that will really scare me.

To give you an idea of what scares me, I was really freaked out while playing Amnesia. That game tormented me, messed with my head, so realistically i'm looking for any games that you can compare to Amnesia for scares.

Im sure you can help me out fellow Escapists!

Dead Space's combat system works. It just needs better enemies.

Condemned Criminal Origins, Pathologic, or The Binding of Isaac.
TBoI is more Horror in the sense that it has some damn twisted stuff.

The first three Silent Hill games are good scares.
Anything after Silent Hill 3 and I'm afraid you may be wasting your time.

Condemned: Bloodshot (one particular...chase...level gave me a near heart attack)

Siren Blood Curse (just flat out fucking scary)

The only Silent Hill I've played is the second one, but dear God is it overrated. It's MAYBE vaguely creepy, but definitely more frustrating than scary.

The Chzo Mythos, or XDAS games, but that Yahtzee fellow are generally regarded as being very scary, despite neing made by an amateur on freeware software, and are free to download.

Quite so. To that I'll add, it's not the enemies that are the scary creepy bit in that game.

A free online game (Or you could buy the HD version on Steam) called "Eversion". You should try it! But don't spoil it by looking it up on Youtube please. It's scary only if you don't know what's going to happen.

The Penumbra series. The atmos-fear *is shot* is so amazing, I have only seen one enemy, and I'm to scared to continue.

Penumbra: Overture and Penumbra: Black Plague are really good. Requiem is alright, a bit too puzzle heavy for my tastes. Would definitely recommend those games.

This guy. Though it's really tough. And pretty buggy.

Also Condemned. I love Condemned.

I just played it (CoCCotE) and while I would reccomend it to someone, I would feel shameful to force someone else through that "Invisible Reef" bug. That was beyond painful.
Although I thought that the main character was funny. It just goes to show that even if you're making a Lovecraftian game, you can still give the main character a catch phrase.
Oh, and yes. Condemned: Criminal Origins is good.
