Okay question on the plot, so spoilers

When the Squad finds Waller in her top secret command bunker, she pulls out a gun and shoots all her techs. Deadshot and what's his face are all like "Damn, ***** be cold!" and she be like "They weren't cleared to know about this operation." and...and then they walk away, apparently satisfied.
Hold up!
Why did Amanda Waller, who despite all evidence to the contrary, is supposed to be very calculated and smart, staff her emergency Black Ops command bunker with techs who weren't cleared to know about Black Ops?! And she's on the comm with the Pentagon the whole time too! Did the Joint Chiefs watch her gun down her entire team and just go "Well, our fault for assigning Geek Squad guys to the highest level Government Operations positions."
And why the fuck did she have a separate command bunker from the Pentagon anyway?! What, are they not even cleared to know what their own assets are doing?
She's killing them to cover up her own fuck-up. For all we know, the bunker is unauthorised and she deliberately staffed it with nobodies so that she could kill them all without people asking questions. Say they all died in the terrorist attack or whatever.

Amanda Waller is kind of operating without any real oversight here. By the time she's got to a meeting with the joint chiefs of whatever, she's already had several American citizens moved to an off-the-books black site and pissed off a weird-ass witch-goddess by stealing her heart and attaching it to a bomb. Then she asks for the authority to do what she's already done. The entire plot is put in motion by her sending in the Suicide Squad to clean up after the, uh, Suicide Squad. She says as much at the end; if people found out how badly she dropped the ball, she'd probably be charged with treason.

Nnnnope, it was rather crap and stupid. And really insulting to boot. This movie really assumes that its audience lacks even a single brain cell, and keeps reminding us of things IT HAS ALREADY SHOWN US! Katana crying and whispering to her sword, which we've been told traps the souls of those it's killed, telling herself that "we'll be united again", and then the movie immediately has a character recap to us that the sword traps the souls of those it has killed and even underlines to us that she killed her husband despite the fact that SHE LITERALLY SAID IT HERSELF MERE SECONDS AGO! How fucking stupid does Warner Bros. think we are?

- Joker was horrible. His design is just fugly, and Jared Leto's performance seemed to be just random coked up flailing . Ugh.
- The villain was crap.
- The film felt like watching it through a muddy plastic bag, and watching it in 3D made it even more dreary and murky.
- Toilet paper thin characters. The only one I was even remotely interested in was El Diablo, who admittedly got a really cool fight, but then of course they axe the only character who got any development.
- Things the audience is just expected to go along with. Exactly how did Rick Flagg fall in love with whatsername who was possessed by enchantress? Who knows! Why do the characters suddenly start treating each other like family after knowing each other for the whole extent of about 8 hours? Who cares! It's not like we have to be invested in these characters' relationships or anything.
- And it only just hit me. No character development. None. Zip. Nada. No arc for anyone save for El Diablo. The characters stay exactly the same as they are in the beginning.
- Terrible storytelling. Just plain amateurish and bad. At least it got less bad once they just got to the fighting...
- ...which was underwhelming to say the least. No cool cinematography, fight choreography, interesting baddies, special effects or stunts, just nothing of interest.
- Reshoots were really apparent in the forced attempts at humor and the occasional staggering mood whiplash.
- The editing. Dear fucking Christ, Allah, Yahwe, Tzeentch, Morpheus and Vishnu, the editing was horrid, appalling, atrocious.
- Wasn't this originally supposed to be rated R? You can plainly see it in Harley being a stripper, Joker being like a Colombian drug kingpin, torture, heads exploding and so on. David Ayer is not a director you get for PG-13.
- The music choices were beyond irritating. I actually started counting how many popular, well known songs that seemed just thrown in there I could count. I got to 6 or 7 before it finally stopped.

Holy shit, I didn't even realize how much bad things I had to say about this movie, and no doubt more will enter my mind over time! Were I forced to strain out some pros...

- Margot Robbie. Booty shorts. Wet t-shirt. 'nuff said.
- Cara Delevigne doing some sort of exotic dance effectively in her undies. Me like.
- As previously mentioned, El Diablo was the only interesting character in the film, and even got some actual backstory and development.
- Despite Harley being supposedly the comic relief, Killer Croc actually had the funniest lines. Only a few, but I'll take it.
- The acting was alright, but only for the material they were given, so that doesn't count for much.

One thing I did realize that Amanda Waller was basically the wet dream of the PC conclave: an older, non-sexualized, non-white, heavier woman in a role of authority where she's constantly in control of her own actions and not victimized in any way. Now let's watch how NO ONE will ever bring her character up in the whole representation in movies debate EVER.

I saw the movie opening night and I quite enjoyed it.

Was it better than Batman v Superman? Yes it was, on the merit that it wasn't as long, the characters were more engaging and fun, and it doesn't take itself too seriously.

Was this a perfect film? Not at all likely. There are many moments in which the editing and pacing is clearly mishandled and many audio cues are off key, but it merely makes this an okay film rather than a bad one.

Seriously, the only IP that I have to compare this to is Batman: Assault on Arkham, a direct-to-video movie that is a prequel to the Batman: Arkham Asylum game. I highly recommend others to watch it if they want to enjoy a truly great Suicide Squad movie.
