Hiya escapists.

Summer has finally started to reach me here in the more chilly regions of the world, so I'm in a mood for some related music.
Post the best songs that feel "summer-y" to you.

And use spoiler tags.
They're all Norwegian by the way, so most of you won't get the lyrics I guess.
Many people live only for money
Which they do not actually need
Working day and night
In an eternal chase for status
But then what is left
OF the sweet life, my friend?

To lie on a rock and just exist
And feel the sun warming in an air so mild
That's what I call a taste
of honey
Knowing that you do not need any thing
No only knowing joy for all that is around
That's what I call a taste
of honey

The crocodiles of capital
Hard looks behind dark glasses
All they see is only profit
And they sneer "everything's mine"
But then what is left
Of the sweet life, my friend?

Walking along a flower bed with her that you love
Where everything is new and fresh with dew from a friendly shower
That's what I call a taste of honey
To hear her whisper I love you so much
To kiss her affectionately, where among the grass and timothy
That's what I call a taste of honey

Many people forget to listen
For it gives them no benefit
Buying and selling is their song
Mammon's accompaniment
But then what is left
Of the sweet life, my friend?

That's what I call a taste of honey
Listening to a voice on a quiet summer evening
With a tone so nice and soft and warm and sensual
That's what I call a taste
of honey
Knowing that you live with all that you hold dear
And knowing that the one you love, she's sitting there so near
That's what I call a taste
of honey

I sit down on the rock and looks over the sea
A sunny day in my holiday
This summer I'll go water skiing, surfing and swimming
Yes, I think this holiday will be fine

Andersen hurtling past me in his cabin cruiser
With all his friends on board
There are many girls where the transparent blouses
As Andersen became familiar with last year
I'm looking at girls I'm wearing sunglasses
So no one really sees how I look
The prettiest of the girls taking off their bras
And turns to me and I said

You tell me
Do you have a good
Well thank you
I have it better than most people around
I smile every day
Because I love
It's so nice to live tell me you can not see it
And if you come with me for crabs
For crabs are the best I know
[Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/p/postgirobygget/en_solskinnsdag.html]
We're going out in my boat, a white dromedille
She says she is glad that I asked
We find ourselves an island that is peaceful and quiet
I say I'm glad that I dared
So we sit and watch the sun go down
And the moon comes out again
We are fishing for crabs until at the four
Satisfied, we return home she says

Thanks for Today
I've had it so good
There have been so much fun to be with you dear
I look forward to the mites'
At two in the morning
We have had it so good perhaps it is more in ferment
I cover with candles and red roses

And open a Veuve Cliquot
Now I have it good
And thank you
I have it better than most people around
I smile every day
Because I love
It's so nice to live even chair legs are crooked
I cover with candles and red roses
And waiting for her to call on

I think my view of "summer" is slightly different to others-
Ok this one is more of a cheap shot but it does feel summer to me and it ain't the lyric that's doing it!

Big fan of that Boys of Summer cover. The original is class too but that works real well :)

This came on the radio when I was driving home from work the other day, sun was out, car window was down, it was pretty cool. Felt like a proper summer song, despite the video being rather wintery.

Well, this is the song I think of when someone says "Summer."

It's not boring.
It's laid back and relaxed, free from worries.

I read a quote earlier today:
"Summer is having nothing you need to do, and having the whole day to do it."

Myon & Shane 54 and their "Summer of Love" remixes are always great, if electronic music and more specifically trance. Two of my favourite remixes are featured below:

Also, in case someone wants more, check out the megamix they've put out:

Read: Boring.
It was popular during a summer vacation to Italy, so I always associate it with that.
Obligatory song with "summer" somewhere in the title.

Anything by Barenaked Ladies or Hootie and the Blowfish.

An English summer? Anything with 'rain' in the title. XD As for summer in places where actual sun is involved, I'd say these are more apposite:

Stuff like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FyVP3Gljvs

Mainly chill and or groovy stuff... Best thing for going for a cruise in a classic car along the seaside, or any kinda activity where "chillin" and enjoying the sunny warmth is involved.

Nonsense.
You're simply not mature enough to enjoy a calm and happy song.
And what's with all the dance music, techno and shit that gets posted here? Are frat boys the only people who enjoy the summer in other countries?

Summertime is a popular time to go what your people would still call the "disco".

If you're an annoying brat who takes pleasure in that sort of activity and music, yes.
Or so I assume is the case around other parts.
"The disco" isn't a popular summer activity around here. Going to one of the many music festivals is popular though.
