EDIT: I'm a bit confused about Final Fantasy 6 and Final Fantasy 3...... are they like the same game, or what?
If you're talking about the North American Final Fantasy III then yes they are the same game.
EDIT: Most hardcore Final Fantasy fans will refer to it by it's original Japanese title though, esp. now that it has been released world-wide under that title.

As for recommendations:
- Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
- Super Mario World
- Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
- Secret of Evermore
- Illusion of Gaia was pretty good, the ending's kinda of a mindfuck too.
- Final Fantasy III/VI
- Chrono Trigger, but you already have that
- Mario All-Stars as already mentioned by a few others

...and that's all I can think of at the moment.

You are unlikely goign to be able to find Earthbound.
I suggest you emulate SNES on your computer, it's the way to go nowadays and lets you play Japanese games.

Although the game was only published in Japan, Western players have been able to come into contact with Seiken Densetsu 3 thanks to an unofficial English fan translation. In the West, the game is sometimes referred to unofficially as Secret of Mana 2.

I'm aware of that. However, as far as I'm aware, the OP was asking for SNES games (cartridges), not ROMs.
So, Seiken Densetsu 3 doesn't qualify, unless the OP is either from Japan and/or can read Japanese.

If you like fighting games I'd suggest Killer Instinct (it's where ccccombo breaker comes from) and Primal Rage (fighting game with dinosaurs). The Mega Man X games if your into Mega Man. There's also a pretty cool high fantasy cyber punk rpg called Shadow Run. Think Lord of the Rings meets Blade Runner/ Johnny Mnemomic. You might need to use a game guide for the first part though. You have to gather a bunch of really random items with little to no clues telling you what you're supposed to get. After that it gets really good. You get to shoot orcs with shotguns and fight urban samurais while also hacking computers.

It's like Final Fantasy, but then the battle system switches to a side-scroller brawler like Double Dragon.
What I wouldn't do to have another bash at Double Dragon.. or Double Dragon 2 !
Although I'd be scared that it would taint my beautiful memories of the game!

Kirby's Avalanche. Seriously, you won't play anything like it ever again. It's like battle Tetris with pairs of goo balls and whenever you get combos you drop rocks on your enemy's field. Fucking fun but it will kick your dick halfway through the single player.

Super Mario RPG, the only turn-based RPG that didn't make me projectile-vomit. Strangely, also my favorite game ever made.
F-Zero, the definitive racing game.
Donkey Kong Country 1, 2, and 3. Why not? They're all cheap as shit now.

Just to go through a few that haven't been mentioned as much yet...

Kirby Superstar, Secret of the Rudras (plus fan translation) and Terranigma. The first is good, the second is great but rather poorly translated (and vicious), while the third has an incredible story, and... less than great gameplay. But really, the story is worth it.

As for FF6/3, it has to do with a convoluted and rather daft international release scheme that Square had at the time. The short version is that FF3 in Japan was never released in the rest of the world except in remake form a while later, while the game called FF6 in Japan was released elsewhere as FF3, though they've corrected it to FF6 since.

So yes, confusing. Anyway, it's a bit hard to get them mixed up in this case as FF3 is for the NES, while FF6 is for the SNES. Get FF6, it's pretty good.

[sub]You've probably just been swamped with replies to that but here we go[/sub] Final Fantasy VI was released in the U.S. as Final Fantasy III on the Super Nintendo. This is because the U.S. didn't actually get Final Fantasy 2, 3 or, 5 until years later.

U.S. Final Fantasy = JP Final Fantasy
U.S. Final Fantasy II = JP Final Fantasy IV [sub](could be mistaken about that actually...have to double check)[/sub]
U.S. Final Fanyasy III = JP Final Fantasy VI

I got a Super Nintendo about a month ago actually. I got and beat Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and absolutely love that game. I also got;

Daffy Duck, The Marvin Missions
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
Primal Rage
Spider-Man & X-Men: Arcade's Revenge
Super Mario Kart
Yoshi's Island

I'm currently looking out for Doom, Marvel War of the Gems, Star Fox and, TMNT VI: Turtles in Time...among others of course, I just can't think of any at the moment.

The main thing I'm looking for though is Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, the most under-rated of them all and the FF track with the absolute best music hands down.

I'm not sure how Seiken Densetsu 3/Secret of Mana 2 doesn't qualify as one of my favorite games or become any less of a recommendation just because the OP might not be from Japan or be unable to read Japanese.
It's a good game, plus I share a name with one of the main characters, but the OP might have trouble playing it on an actual US console, which is what it seems he has.

Lots of good suggestions here. I'm in the UK so sorry if I recommend anything that wasn't released in America. I'd add Contra 3 and Super Turrican to the list

Yoshi's Island (Super mario world 2): Just because it's the first Yoshi game....
Enough said... Still one of the hardest games to 100% complete anyway...

It's like any other mario platformer really.... except you can hover for a while before dying... Because you'll die a lot on the later levels... Especially for 100%
Seriously. I agree with him fully. Go for Yoshi's Island. It. Is. Amazing.

Also recommended: Super Metroid. Favourite game of all time. So yeah definitely!

Am I the only one who thinks "effectively acquired" means "illegally downloaded"?

Well I read it and thought "he's got it on ebay, just waiting for it to be delivered." Naive?

Then why wouldn't he just say "acquired"? "Effectively acquired" implies he did something comparable enough to the real thing, though not quite exactly the real thing.
