Super Powers and Politics

Hello, Escapist! This is my first post in... well like a year.

Today, I would like to talk about Super Powers and Politics. That is, how would politics work if one or a small group of people had super powers? I have been thinking of this a lot actually, and so far the only thing that has remotely touched on the issue is that Superman/Batman crossover with Reagan and the X-Men.

So, I prevent the following scenario:

There is one individual, about 18 years old. He has as much strength as he needs at any given moment (therefore nothing can hold him), he is invincible, cab fly, is psychic, generally has every super power you can think of. But, he is basically an 18 year old with super powers, and makes no attempt to hide that fact.

What would politicians do? How would he react to world events or if laws were passed that he found were unjust?

What would YOU do living in a world with just one super powered individual? Remember, there are no super villains and such in this world. Everything is exactly the same save the one person that has powers.

I'd quote Carmine Falcone from Batman Begins "you always fear what you don't understand" they'd try to kill/control him which probably wouldn't work.

If I were the guy with the powers I'd fight terrorists and stuff like that, hwelp out during humanitarian disaters. I'd find the location of terrorists (of whatever faith or belief) i might add - you could check it out and sort it all out - It would be precise so no more messy drone strikes

And in my spare time i'd use my powers to prank people in very small incinvinient ways just for laughs!!
