For those of you who didn't know, SBO(Super Battle Opera, a fighting game tournament in Japan) happened this weekend along with the TGS. For those who don't understand what this means, basically tournaments, and some fighting game announcements.
So besides Tekken Tag Tournament 2 being announced, players finally got their legitimate first hands on the new upgraded version of SSF4.
SSF4: Arcade Edition has 3 major changes to it that differs it from the main console version.
1) Character changes..a lot of characters have been buffed and nerfed in this first, as they update and tweak around with their new info about the latest SF addition, these changes are not final though and may be tweaked a bit more before release.
2) More Alt. Costumes..while I know most people think 5-10$ for some more costumes are a rip-off, there are still some people who like them and Capcom is catering to them with a new pack of alternate costumes. Ever wanted to fight a Sagat with hair?? Fight Street Fighter Alpha Chun-li again? Or how about M. Bison in some more Gundam cosplay??
Ono-san, the head of the SF4 team, has stated that these costumes will make their way to the console version as DLC sometime around late fall(October-November).
And finally, and the most major update..
3) Yun and Yang...continuing their Super Street Fighter 4 tradition of adding in characters from Street Fighter 3, Capcom has added 2 more into the fray, the Lee brothers Yun and Yang. Each are to be included in the Arcade release(which will be this December), and might or might not be included within the console version as character DLC(it is so far undecided, but if it is, it will most likely be like the Blazblue:CS char. DLC). Each is apparently brought over faithfully from their 3rd Strike version along with new Ultras to match with the SF4 engine.
So with that news being said, the Arcade Edition might not mean that much to Street Fighter players, or most console owners(unless you live near a really big city), the console add-ons such as the proposed updates, the new DLC costumes, and the possible inclusion of 2 new characters to the roster might mean something. So, Escapists, do you have any opinions on any of this new info? or would any of the updates like this entice you to try and pick up the game? =]
