Can't be one or the other, gotta be both. Doesn't have to be Miss Universe or a Nobel Laureate, but if I'm going to be sleeping with her and talking to her I want to enjoy both. A few other qualities are essential too, like sense of humour and a good heart. Spontaneity, compassion and a spine all sweeten the deal.

Who cares if she's a gorgeous and has an IQ over 140 and has a degree in world history, a doctorate in astrophysics, and a globally recognised award for "best sex in the world" when she's also an elitist ***** who thinks videogames are for children?

I'd give up videogames to reproduce with a woman of that genetic calibre. It'd be sad, of course... but I'd just have to console myself with the best sex in the world. *sniff*

The latter. Fortunately I tend to be attracted to the physical features of "cute" or such people rather than the idiotic super-feminine bimbo. Unfortunately, well... never mind, I've already gone over that elsewhere. Basically, barring my own problems, save for the effort it takes to maintain one's beauty, it is an inherent trait; that is, if you are born with beauty then it is something you have not earned, but have been granted. There is absolutely no respect that you may demand based on your looks, simply because aside from things like the clothing you wear, you are not in any way responsible for your appearance. That's probably why I despise the fact that people can often get through life on good looks and charm alone, and why respect from me must be earned rather than given out freely just because you happen to look like a model. Frankly, I don't give a flying fuck about how you look. Now, if I had a girlfriend or someone who I was interested in getting involved with, then yes, I would care about how attractive she was to me, but not before that stage.

Of course, most people generally don't expect this sort of thing, especially when I say it to their faces. I have a wonderful way of shattering people's delusions and exposing them for the pathetic herd-followers they are, and that tends to make people more than just a little less interested in me.

Well I wouldn't just go for a smart person or good looking person. I would go with a girl who makes me happy, as other in this thread have stated. Having said that, I think I am kind of shallow and I wouldn't go out with a really ugly person. It sounds bad, but I'm not going to lie, nobody thinks its ideal to go out with a person who is completely unattractive.

It may not be very fairytale but both physical and emotional attraction is more important in the long term than someone who has a "unique" idea on communist culture an libertarianism.

it depends what we're talking about here. are we going for a one night stand here or a serious relationship? See, I don't think i could date another airhead. I've had enough trouble with them. they drive me mad with stupid questions like "who's Freddie Mercury?" and "why don't you make sushi yourself?" that said, if she cant talk because shes got *censored* er mouth, i dont see the problem.

Instead of:

or

Seems like the comparison was a little hedged to one side.

Having said that, in the comparison we've been given it depends on the relationship I'm after, as has been said before. If we meet at a bar for one simple purpose I'm going to go for the eye candy. If not, the brain food.

So long as I'm happy with who ever I am fated to be with, it just wouldn't matter since they may be beautiful in my opinion but not your's.

Preferably, I would want a mix of the two as well as a good personality, sense of humour and wants a commited relationship.

I don't suppose many people have considered the fun you can have with an air head. I mean, some of the stuff they come out with is pure gold. Remember Brians idiot girlfriend in Family Guy? The reason for liking someone who matches you intellectualy is obvious. Everyone's already listed all of the reasons for liking smart people, so I don't think I'll bother.
