The new Superman movie due for release in 2013 has had a few photos of superman leaked:

And the second thing you'll notice when you look between his legs is that they've ditched the iconic red underwear, I think that's supposed to mirror his new rebooted costume.

There are two other pictures of him on the news article:

So whatd'ya think?

If I'm honest, this is the only Lois and Clark I'll ever accept:

...I like it.

No, don't get me wrong, I miss the red draws. He seem like a strong mix of golden, 80's and New DC.

There BETTER be a badass Jimmy Olsen.

oh gosh, now i'll never be able to see another film without bemoaning the fact it isn't superman. not that i'm a superman fan, mind, but because i've had a crush on cavill since he was charles brandon. which isn't that long a time, but... you know...

I still don't like it, I kind of like the new reboot costume, but I just can't get behind this. Needs red in the groin area. Doesn't need goofy gauntlets, scales, or whatever it that is that's streaking down his thighs and abs. Also, curl...

I think if they bothered getting rid of the red panties, they should have changed up the shade of the tights at least. It looks a little bland, and the torso just seems to blend into the pants, with no interesting shapes or movement. Breaking up the torso from the legs, whether by shade, color texture, or design, would make the whole thing more dynamic, I think.

I can think of at least one interesting shape...[footnote]Hint: it's roughly genital shaped.[/footnote]

I'm not really in love with the color or texture though. I get the idea behind making it look like a tough modern polymer, but I think they just sorta did it wrong.

I agree.

I see that they try to break up the legs and the torso with the grey...stuff (I honestly have no idea what to call that) but the blue is too dark and the grey doesn't stand out, so it doesn't create the desired effect.

Seriously, the lest they could have done is kept the yellow belt, even if they removed the red underwear it was attached to.

That's the problem, I don't see why it needs to look like a modern polymer. I mean, it's not like it needs to be bulletproof, or offer any kind of protection (considering Superman is bulletproof on his own after all). If anything it should look like it gives superman some freedom of movement, and this costume doesn't do that, it looks extremely restricting and uncomfortable.

I think the idea is that it supposed to believably look like something that will (unfortunately) not be completed torn off by the end of the movie. So it really does have to be sort of bulletproof, and Superman doesn't need freedom of movement because he's Superman.

And if he can get his hands through those wrist holes, it has to have a significant amount of stretch.

The Color Saturation of that costume looks like was inspired by modern Call of Dudty type games:

"Saturated colors? NEVER in MY Games!"

Hate it, from a design perspective it does need something to break apart the upper and lower halves of the body.
