My friends tell me Farcry 3 is hard. It is not. I'm already packing 4 guns and I reserve my C4 for the armored guys.
Either your friends only played the first two hours, or they kind of suck, as Far Cry 3's biggest flaw is that relatively soon you become Rambo on steroids.

Personally it probably was WoW raiding - apparently getting out of the bloody fire is a delicate art.
Far Cry 3 is still fun though. I'm playing it at the moment. It's tricky at first, but once you get decent weapons and upgrades, yup I could kill Chuck Norris before breakfast.

WoW raiding on the other hand has swerved wildly between so easy it's a joke to OMG hard.

At the moment, it's both, with LFR for the people who are so dumb I'm surprised they manage to log in, Normal mode for most people, which at least in the current expansion is fairly challenging for a lot of people.

Then there's heroic mode which only very very few good guilds even try.

Metal Gear Rising was that really hard game that EVERYONE claims as being impossible with some bosses if you don't learn parry as early on as the first chapter and how ungodly difficult of the bosses are. Let me say it like this, Bladewolf kicked my ass more times than Monsoon or Mistral did, the metallic dog-bugger has about five legitimate kills over Mistrals none and Monsoon's four. So far I'm not exactly impressed, and bar a few situations where I'm pretty sure you're supposed to stealth it anyway, I've had a complete breeze thus far and if I don't get an A or a B rank in every fight it's because I wasn't trying hard enough. Maybe I'll have a harder time with Revengeance Mode, but this far it's been piss-easy.
The only hard part for me was Monsoon, just because he is rarely vulnerable.
OT: A lot of people say Disgaea is hard which it really isn't

Everyone saying Dark Souls is making me feel bad, I'm still struggling with it now :(

I read in some gaming magazine ages ago the final boss of the first Fable game was voted hardest boss of the year. That I never understood, it was a piss-take.
Really? The final boss in Fable? I agree, someone must have been winding you up because I remember that being one big anti-climax from both a gameplay and stroy perspective.

I'd say Europa Universalis, a bit much to take on to begin with admitaddley but onnce you figure out how to send off colonists it becomes pretty straightforward

My friend told me that Dragon Age: Origins was hard, though when I played it I found that an obscenely high dexterity makes it so you can't be hit at all, effectively breaking all challenge in the game. Even Nightmare difficulty was easy.

Hotline Miami hasn't been said, and some people have legitimately said they never finished it. I'll admit I retried some levels a lot, but never finish it? Some people are just so lame.
Maybe they never finished it because of the god awful level Trauma. I almost stopped because of how bored and frustrated I was.

OT:

Uh... I'm not sure what games people call hard other than the Souls titles. Neither were hard, just slow slow slowwwwww. Got bored of Dark Souls before reaching the kings boss, but I did beat Demon's Souls pretty handily.

I guess people would consider some online games hard like League of Legends or Left 4 Dead (on expert realism), but they definitely aren't.

I heard people say that original Contra is impossible without the konami code. I haven't beaten it yet but I can get pretty far without it.
Yea. This one is me. I can clear it with one life. (Actually, you start with three lives and by the end I usually have seven)

The story goes like this:
I played it every lunchtime with a friend of mine during high school. He wasn't too good so he would eat through all 30 lives rather quickly. In Contra you can steal a life from the other player by pressing "A" if you have run out. So my friend would end up taking more and more of my lives. Eventually, if I wanted to see the end of the game, I had to make it with very few lives. Now, its just plain easy.

Yeah I thought it was bizarre because I'm generally pretty bad at most games and have never had any trouble with that whatsoever. Maybe the people who thought that just hadn't levelled up for the whole game. Or maybe there just weren't many hard games out that year.

I honestly have no idea about the state of the game right now, as I quit at the start of Cataclysm. I do have to note though: up to that point they made some of the best - and hardest - fights I've seen. Lich King still remains by far my favourite boss encounter of all time. It's just that epic a fight, both in terms of difficulty and grandeur.

But just try leading HC raids, and you'll learn to be amazed at the extends of human stupidity - and that's in relatively competent raiders. I've seen people die (repeatedly) in fires of every single colour, size, and sexual proclivity.

Ghouls and Ghosts, people are constantly whining about how hard that game is and yet i can finish it with no trouble at all, i never found it difficult even as a kid, that and Dark Souls, it wasn't a breeze but it wasn't the utter nightmare people have been making it out to be.
