But movies and books tend to try to make you sympathize with the one doing all the killing. Which is worse?
Books and movies try and make you sympathize with monstrous characters about as often as video games do. In fact I'd say there are a lot more complete bastard protagonists (or at least, you can play them in such a manner) in video games than there are in any other media by far.

Now, don't take this to mean that I agree with this bill, I don't think anyone should be facing jail time over selling a kid an M rated game, there are plenty of other avenues to deal with that. I'm just trying to show that violence in video games is usually different than other forms of media.

Why? Why do these people feel the need to go out of their way to stop violent games? There are far worse books and movies.
Same thing happened with them. Lady Chatterley's Lover for instance. Eventually video games will become the norm and they'll move onto something else.

It's a scapegoat in most cases, an easy explanation and leads to more ways for governments to make money.
From what I've seen most of these issues seem to be more related to parental advisory issues, not a link between violence in games to violence in crime.

I play games for 18, heck a play resident evil! but i never ever wanted to stab or kill anyone in my entire life, and so the question stand, heck the reason stands! Its not the games fault, its the people that play the game, and the age does not matter, it is what kind of person they are, and as well as that, in the real world, its much worse, so stop hiding, and deal with the fact that the world is falling aprt and is a harsh sick place, deal with it.

I'm not seeing the issue, its about a ban on selling rated games to kids... They are rated for a reason, and it would help the gaming community if the law held, as the complainy people are always 'My child can just walk into shop and buy a violent game blah' and if laws like theses were around they have no argument as there is a law in place to prevent it.

I don't get it, what's the problem? As long as they aren't trying to ban them for adults I don't see the issue, they just want to fine retailers who break the law and sell restricted games to minors. I'd kill for that in my country.
The problem is that essentially games wouldn't be protected as free speech, like other forms of media.

It would open the proverbial floodgates of censorship.

Parents should be allowed to choose what their children play anyway; I'm not too fond of giving up rights to facilitate lazy parents.
