This is what I call "the clusterfuck theory of RP death".
People separate themselves into groups that are too small and go off on their own, creating multiple arcs to follow. Once a member of one of those groups vanishes, that group effectively dies.
Unlike in S1 for example, where we only had about two main groups, with the occasional split up.

I say concept, because I feel as the premise of surge is good, although sequel's aren't advisable for a number of reasons.
