Ever hear about games not expecting them to be bad only to buy it at the price drop and realize that it's acually something you really enjoy?

I really like Star Wars and when I heard about The Force Unleashed I was unimpressed, I bought the compleate sith edition a few days ago and I really enjoyed it. It's one of the better Star Wars games I've played.

So Escapist, ever get surprised by any games quality?

Whatever, just wash your hands.
halo, I hated on it plenty before I got an xbox and I picked it up cheap, damn that game grabbed me, I must have beat it at least 20 times, never really played it online but the single player was great.

Kameo suprised me too, when I got a 360 a friend of mine who worked for microsoft sent me a couple games, kameo and perfect dark Z (or whatever) I thought I would toss kameo and be enthralled by perfect dark since I loved the n64 one but Kameo grabbed me and perfect dark was crap

Well, the closest I had to being suprised by a game I thought wasn't gonna be good was when I bought "The Bard's Tale". I just thought it was gonna just be one more run-of-the-mill game I never heard of, but had enough money to buy. But boy, was I wrong. It actualy had good (maybe a bit repetetive) gameplay, a good story and amazing humor, and, well, it was better than I thought it would be.

Viva Pinata.
Bought it thinking this'll be lame and obviously a kiddy's game, ended up getting 40 achievements for it in about 6 months solid play.

Chrono Cross.

Let's set some things straight here: Chrono Trigger? Best RPG ever. Chrono Cross can't possibly live up to its pedigree, can it?

Short answer: No. Long Answer: No, but it's still a fantastic RPG that I suggest you play.

i always heard Psychonauts and Shadow of the Colossis were great games, but didn't really think they'd be my cup of tea. I thought they'd be mediocre, at best. I love them both, and Psychonauts is now in my top 5 of best ever.

Despite not being a wrestling fan in any degree, I found WWE Smackdown Vs Raw to be a highly playable and varied beat 'em up.
