Well I suppose your AI squadmates in Bad Company 2 could count. They will frequently fire a burst of shots into an enemy who will just walk it off. I'd swear they're using rubber bullets.

Surprising usesless eh? Well how bout this: There the most elite fighting force in the galaxy. The've probably got years of combat experience. They have high-tech powered armor and weapons. AND THERE STILL UTTERLY USELESS. See if you can figure out what I mean.

Stormtroopers.

Also Big Pete.
I think that one's because they couldn't clone from the original DNA any longer. Original clones great, thirty years later, degradation out the ass.
Then Explain how they took the tantive 4 in about 2 minutes.
Time to bust out the nerd knowledge.

Interestingly enough, the stormtroopers boarding the Tantive IV were the 501st Legion. Vader's personal legion of stormtroopers, and the last remanant of of the Grand Army of the Republic fully composed of clones of Jango Fett. In all other areas the Fett clones were becoming a minority, being replaced by clones from other sources or naturally born recruits.

This increased diversity was due to the Battle of Kamino, where a small group of Kaminoans made an army of clones in order to fight the Imperial opressors. The 501st Legion was sent to crush this uprising. In the aftermath of this, Emperor Palpatine decided that an army of gentically identical clones was too much of a weakness. He therfore started introducing other clones and recruits.

Not that you wanted to know, but anyway...

Every single rebel in HL2

"Oh look Gordon! A Carbine turret! Shall we go stand in the cover and let YOU take it out? I think not! I reckon it'll be a much better idea for me to stand in THE MIDDLE OF THE FUCKING STREET AND GET MY GUTS BLOWN OUT ALL OVER LITTLE PUPPIES"

Isn't that what you're supposed to do in every Bioware game?
OT: I guess Dom from Gow2 might fit. I like the guy and all but his brains seemed to dissapear as soon as the actual gameplay starts.

Yeah, I suppose it's just that everyone I know keeps on talking about who they brought for their 'sniping ability' or their 'biotics' but at the end of the day I just liked their quips and random comments.

Oh man how could I forget about Dom. Namely in Gears of War 1 during the Kryll section of the game I had hit a rather unpleasant dodgy AI problem with Dom. At the bit just after a brief gunfight in a sort of graveyard type place and just before the Spotlight section Dom would randomly roll into the darkness. He leaps in and dies and then I have to restart from where I left off. I replayed that same gunfight so many times solely because Dom would not stop throwing himself into the dark and as such getting killed.
So yeah, I agree. Nice enough sort of guy but I'd never want to rely on his AI for assistance.

Your sidekick in Resident Evil 5. She uses up ammo like a fucking gatling gun, in spite of her never using anything other than the pistol.

The only good thing about her, is that you can use her as a pack mule to carry all of the things you don't need at the moment.

Really?!

REALLY?!

I'm the one who gets to play this card first? Okay, here we go.

Yeah, Gyarados is bad-ass, but Magikarp is a giant pile of suck. It can't even hurt anything until level 15, and even then it still sucks something fierce.
Luvdisc is definitely worse. Magikarp evolves into a raging demon of death. Luvdisc's stats are attrocious appart from speed, not that that matters since its strong enough to overpower a goddamn farfetch!

Your AI friends in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
While they are plot important, it is 100% up to you to get them to where everyone needs to be for the plot to actually occur. They have unlimited ammo, unlimited health (at least the important ones do), but it's always up to you to get anything done.
I realize that the game needs to have its main character doing some of the work, but the only point where an AI friend actually gets off the couch is the first ghillie suit level. After that you actually have to carry him, it seems like you're paying him back for his 'help' in the last level.
How have they gotten so far up the military ladder doing nothing but ordering someone to do their work for them?

.

This is no exception with MW2, poor Sgt. Ramirez, next thing you know, his objective would be to help people reload their rifles.

Hmm... most useless character(s) in a game that was percieved to be a badass... Im going to go with the summons in Kingdom Hearts. Not saying they were useless, just more NOT NEEDED at all to complete the game. With Final Fantasy X at least they were needed to tank damage from the dark aeons etc. I just never found any use for them.

I can't say enough awful things about this character. Boomer was the other squad mate you had (of two groups, one AI controlled) In the original Socom: Navy Seals and omg was he retardedly useless. He'd either blow my cover, walk in front of me while I was sniping or otherwise do something else completely useless. I reached a point where I just executed him at the beginning of every stage.
Holy shit i hated Boomer as well from the first 2 socom games. I'm glad they took him out in the third one.

More than half the characters you pick up in Chrono Cross
yea I agree with Chrono Cross, in that more half the characters had issues or zero combat ability (btw I took a risk on the baby dragon and found him to be useful though)

Rico from Killzone 2. He marches into the gunfire, gets knocked down and yells at you to revive him while you're actually being careful for the entire gunfight, and storywise, without going into too much detail, he effectively loses the game for you. That guy needs to get killed.

Pierre the frenchmen was good on the New game+
I remember that guy too. The first time I saw him I figured he'd either be really good or kind of wussy. Too bad it was the latter. He's good on the second playthrough though huh. (as for lil dragon I found the final spell for him, he can summon a large red dragon for an attack).
