Captain Qwark. I mean he's supposed to be a goddamn superhero, but he never really does anything to stop the baddies. As a matter of fact, he has worked with the bad guys more than once. Completely useless.

Final fantasy 7, vincient, he was supposed to be this really badassed guy but the thing is his stats overall are the worst at the end of the game and his limit break is terible.
Eh? I thought he was really good stat-wise and his final limit break was awesome...

Try harder next time bioware!
Yup, so true. All that guy got me was some lost favour with Alistair.

I got Pokemon SoulSilver last weekend and started out with Cyndaquil. Not bad, at the time anyway. I'm up to the last Kanto gym leader and built up a cool team consisting of Jolteon, Absol, Scizor, Flygon, Togekiss and of course Typlosion.

Out of all of them, Typlosion is by far the worst.
Jolteon is a speed demon and his Thunderbolts are glorious.
Absol may be pretty slow but his power is unmatched by most. 1 hit from Sucker Punch will destroy almost anything.
Scizor is just wonderful, except for fire types.
Nothing lasts long with Flygon.
Togekiss is a hell of a tank and is the team leader.
Typlosion is just... crap. Mainly due to his rubbish movepool. Only good move he's got is Flamethrower and I can't find anything else that would be good for him. Should have started with Totadile...

The Iron Lord in Spellforce 2. unlike all my other heroes I can not directly control him nor track his health bar on the hero display, he follows my main hero (who is a tank who always leads a fight) automatically on the ONLY map with enemies without destuctible spawn points (I think) so I'm under constant attack. if he's in a fight I need to make sure every enemy in the vicinity is dead before he starts following my hero then something else wanders into his line of sight AUUUGH! plus if he dies I lose, unlike every other character who gets some dragon blood and stands back up again

and Meg from Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. she uses swords (lowest attack Melee weapon) and has average Defense at best, her only defining stat is Luck. she is a Heavy Knight class character so she has low movement points and her dodging ability is wasted when I could use a Swords Master instead. the first mission you can use her in has high attack power enemies AND has sand everywhere (reduces her already poor movement). I need a tank to guard a hole in the wall, why would they decieve me with this character?

Dual classed characters in anything D&D related. You're way better playing an all or nothing, which is no prob for me because I'm always the fighter.
Ranger Tempest FTW!!!

Goofy in Kingdom Hearts. at least I could turn him into a second keyblade in Kingdom Hearts II, I guess that made him a little useful.
So true. Talk about dead weight. I was always switching his ass out when I had the option. Donald would at least heal you which really came in handy. Goofy would just drink all his heal potions like a crack addict and leave you to die.

Stem, from Dragon Age. Or was it Sten? That guy you rescue from that one place but he still hates you. Him. Not helpful at all. And I know how to get into his good graces, just can't be bothered.

Dragon Age seriously had too many characters to choose from. It's an odd complaint, but I stand by it. When there's only really 1 or 2 spots to work with (assuming everyone uses the spirit healer), all the people you pick up...it's too much.
I hear that , it was like having a taller Ogrehn without the rampant alcoholism or indeed any shred of personality

On Dissidia, Sephiroth's first aerial HP attack is pretty awful, but the second one (takes some levels to get though) makes him godlike. And his midair bravery attacks slaughter early on.

I have to disagree on Nier's supporting characters too - I LIKE Kaine. Her magic attacks are slow to charge, but they don't get interrupted a lot, and can wipe out entire swarms of smaller shades (even the armoured ones), as well as landing some big hits on stronger targets.

Not surprised nobody mentioned it, but Kunoichi in Mini Ninjas is surprisingly useless. She supposedly has a Naginata, and trailers show her special attack looking really awesome. Turns out, it's a spear, and not a naginata at all, in spite of claims to the contrary. She can pretty much only use it for hard-to-aim thrusting attacks, can't hit more than one opponent at a time with regular attacks, and her special attack requires charging to be useful, during which any enemy hit does extra damage and interrupts the attack (but still uses the special attack orb). Other characters can do more with less risk (especially if you're good with Hiro).

disgaea - etna
Is good if you give her an Axe instead of a Spear. Spears are a bit weaky. She's still reasonable with a spear, but you need to use the special moves rather than normal attacks.

ff7 - yuffie
Is good for normal attacks and using the Morph command (Conformer will still hit for 9999 on Morph)

ff9 - steiner, freya
Freya has one of the easiest and cheapest guaranteed 9999 hits in the game.

Steiner in Final Fantasy IX. He's this huge armored dude with a big honking sword and he can't do much of anything right.

Oh, and on the topic of swords - how about ANY character with a weapon in a fighting game (I'm looking at you, Yoshimitsu in Tekken). How could they NOT kick ass with a friggin' weapon against an unarmed opponent?

The Heavy Weapons Guy from TF2 is not exactly the unkillable murder machine he first appears to be. Still quite lethal if handled properly, but a lot easier to take down than you'd think.

Irvine from FF VIII. He has the same GF compability with Squall, meaning no one wants to give him GF's and his limit break is shit.

Surprising usesless eh? Well how bout this: There the most elite fighting force in the galaxy. The've probably got years of combat experience. They have high-tech powered armor and weapons. AND THERE STILL UTTERLY USELESS. See if you can figure out what I mean.

Stormtroopers.
I think that one's because they couldn't clone from the original DNA any longer. Original clones great, thirty years later, degradation out the ass.
