 Male

Q3) How many hours do you spend playing videogames a week?
 13-16

Why?
At the moment, I'm waiting to start uni next year and I got a job but haven't started training yet, so all I can really do each day is muck around until I start. Although I guess I could take time to learn something or work out but oh well. I"m pretty lazy.

This is just a rough estimate. Sometimes I play much more than that, sometimes I hardly play them at all. So this is meeting it someway in the middle.

Awesome, Call of Duty, Final Fantasy, console, pc gaming etc

Q4) What words do you associate with the term 'videogame'?

Games mostly. I would reply League of Legends. Wow. Starcraft2. Mass Effect. Dragon age. Either that or a simple description. A story or narrative that is driven by the player in a visual presentation usually on a dedicatided device (console), or a PC.

Q5) What words do you associate with the term 'gamer'?

Nerd culture. While people who play wii games with the family or facebook games are "technically" gamers. I always use to to define someone who very into games, plays "real" games like FPS, RTS, MMO or alike. But also who commits to a game. If you play wow but dont research how to play your class/spec properly, then your a casual and therefore not a real gamer.

Same reasons I do games. Entertainment. Social (if with family or at cinema, after all you rarely go to the cinema alone :p). Boredom. Engagement.

A long visual story. If something is less than 1hr20 or 1hr30, Im not sure it really counts.

Q9) What words do you associate with the term movie buff?

Someone who knows a lot about films generally as well as having good knowelge about cult classics and the background behind the story's they tell. They over anyalise them if you will. Additionally they are well acquainted with the work and knowelge of directors, composers and actors who have featured moderately in any class of film. See "moviebob" on the escapist. I basically just described him :p

Q10) Would you consider yourself a movie buff?
Strongly Disagree
Q11) From 1(lowest)-5(highest) rate how beneficial videogames are to people

Why?
To many games are mindless FPS games with basically no narrative. Even games with strong narratives usually cash in for sequels (See the modern warfare franchise) and often when they do come upon compelling gameplay if it causes even the slightest of controversial ripples its basically shelved (see Battle of Fallujah and modern warfare 2's opening sequence) Education in games is so primitive as to be worse than school classes in most cases :p As a source of time killing, social interaction and challenge, observation and multitasking, games usually excel. Wow is a classic example of this. As a social tool its akin to facebook, you can spend 24 hour on it without really noticing it, but in both PvP and PvE content you are expected to watch and track many things at once and execute it perfectly repeatedly as a unit.

Q12) From 1(lowest)-5(highest) rate how beneficial Films are to people

3

Why?
They often explore elements of the human organism that are both disturbing and controversial as well as inspiring. Often finding ways of telling what on the surface seems like a fairly dull (kings speech) or disturbing (Thr3e (I think thats the right one)) topics in ways that are both interesting and help us understand the problem through the eyes of those most affected. Then again, we have films like American Pie 5 and Saw(2 through whatever we are upto now)( you'll not I didn't include 1 PM if you want to know why) which are both bland and cashed in as poorly as any game ever was.

Imo the big thing separating these 2 mediums is social perception. At the end of the day the sort of person who tends to be a film buff, also is into games to some degree.
