Hello everyone, throughout the years I found out I am getting in love with those kind of games and wanted at the same time if you guys could suggest me some names that are interesting in that style
Here a couple of game and short review about them

(+ for pros, - for cons and ~ for either good or bad)

Knight And Merchants (RTS with resources management emphasis)
+ A lot variety of building
+ Interesting quite unique RTS style
+ A lot of management
+ Interesting graphic looks
~ Somewhat Hard resources management
- Slow
- Weird and cumbersome Villagers path finding around obligatory roads

Stronghold (RTS with resources management emphasis)
+ Basically a 3D game of K&M
+ More control on resource
+ Added more management (Happiness)
~ Added a "Heroes" to the town
~ Slightly less based on Rock-Paper-Scissor style of combat
- Although the 3d the look seem rather unappealing compared to K&M

Minecraft (adventure, crafting and gathering, survival, creation game)
+ A lot of freedom
~ Depends a lot of your patience and creation vibe
- May be too much Adventure centric

A Tale in the Desert (MMO, crafting and gathering game)
(Played back then on the beta)
+ Interesting and unique way of letting you alone and you have to complete craft you way of building your own personal things
- Price to play today is High

Return to the Mysterious Island (point and click, adventure, survival, crafting game)
(game found by pure luck I guess)
+ Basically perfect
+ Had a lot of puzzle and some resource management for survival
- Some Puzzle were hard to complete without walkthrough

And the next title is something I looked a lot of Let Play but haven't played it myself so its something already on my "to buy" game

- Don't Starve

So after all that I hope to receive interesting game you may throw at me :)

I have no suggestions, I'm afraid, as I've never been into that sort of game (except for playing the demo of Minecraft, which was awesome, but I'm nervous about spending money on the full thing and then not having time to play properly, as I have a big game backlog anyway and then I'm apparently starting a new full time job soon, according to the job offer I received earlier today...).

However, I am interested in playing something of these lines and getting into this sort of game, so my question is, are any of those freeware? Failing that, could anyone suggest any freeware (or very cheap via Steam or GOG) games like this?

You forgot one con of the Knights and Merchants game: controlling your army is likely to make you want to destroy your furniture with your bare hands, it is so absurdly frustratingly terrible. I love the building aspect of this game, but coordinating large armies, be it in defense or attack, is a grueling exercise in patience. At least that's how I remember it from when I played it probably 10 years ago.

Have you played the classic city builders? Caesar, Zeus, Pharaoh, Emperor etc. Pretty sweet games, I preferred the last game in this list from a gameplay perspective, but I suppose your interest in the setting might play a large role as well.

I agree with wombat, the guild is a pretty cool game.

There is unfortunately anything but a wealth of titles in which survival on the most base level (food, water, warmth etc.) is the main gameplay focus. I'd personally love more simulators in this vein, but my google searches have hardly turned up anything good. I would myself be very interested if people knew of good games in this "genre."

A few online games with similar mechanics:

Wyrm Online. Probably major inspiration for Minecraft. Heavy focus on survival, crafting and construction. Deep game mechanics, lots of grind, the graphics require a vivid sense of imagination from the player. Has both subscription and F2P modes.

Salem. Probably still in beta, it may be hard to get in. No survival but a lot of focus on crafting and construction. The client seemed like it needed a lot of work when I tried it, but as it's a work in progress this could have changed.

I agree for K&M, forgot that, been a while I haven't played it

Lost in blue looks interesting, too bad I dont have a DS to try them out

I guess I would give The Guild, Caesar, Zeur, Pharaoh and Emperor a try if I can find any sort of demo or very low price to buy :)

Although I search game that can contain any of the style, doesn't have to be all of them at once
either it can be crafting/gathering alone or in the vein of a survival alone too :)

Is it Wyrm or Wurm online? (I can only find Wurm)

registered for the Salem beta

There's always Terraria, which is pretty similar to Minecraft and has very similar pro's and con's although I'd say Terraria is much more tier based progression/adventure based than Minecraft which can be seen as both a pro and a con as it fits very well into the style of the game. I'd say that Terraria doesn't have the 'unlimited' replayability value like Minecraft has (figuratively) but I found it much more enjoyable as it seems more polished and it's purpose more fleshed out than Minecrafts.

I guess some other games which might fit into the type of game your looking for could be Dungeon Keeper 2 which is a classic base management game with decent depth, gameplay I haven't really experienced before or seen after the release of Dungeon Keeper 2 it seems pretty unique. The only con I have of this game is it is difficult to get working on modern machines and its graphics are pretty outdated.

Dwarf Fortress is a very complex and advanced management game and the newly released Game of Dwarves both of which I haven't played yet.

Okey now that was unexpected. Minecraft. Adventure centric.

I FUCKING LOL´D. That was a good laugh :) This alone is on the "F*** you Capcom" thread level of hilarity.

Minecraft is a building game with half-assed adventure elements, if that and its begin generous.

If it really WAS adventure centric then it would actually be a fun game...

Well Minecraft is not a big "crafting" game either, you only have few basic recipes and that it, and I meant by adventure for that "story" you can do, by going in the netherworld and kill ghast? but I dunno I havent touched Minecraft in a while
