Well, now that the nondisclosure has been lifted and more info about the beta is flowing to the internet (not that there wasn't an abundance of information already, but you know...), and since the game is less than 1 month away from launch, and as such not much is going to change anymore, what are your thoughts:

Will you buy it? Did the new info change your decision to do so? What are your thoughts on the current progress of the game?

Personally for the little while I've spend in the beta, the game has not convinced me. I certainly won't be getting it on launch day, maybe in the future, depending on how the endgame content shapes up. I feel it's too similar to WoW for me to invest time/money in it since I've already invested so much in WoW.

Well, it's not just the story, you are paying for more than that, it's the whole MMO experience.

I personally haven't found the game to be by no means bad... just too similar to WoW to justify a 2nd subscription

Yes I will. I'm enjoying myself playing through the beta, and going through my character's story.

So yeah, since I'm enjoying myself playing it, I'll be buying the game.

Gameplay is weak, but then again every Bioware game except MDK 2 has weak gameplay, so whatever.

I will, when my friend plays as well. I really need to play KotOR and actually watch the films though, my knowledge of SW is quite pathetic. Especially since (if they exist) I'll be chilling on an RP server.

Im finding it practically impossible to dog the WoW comparisons. For example one that sprung to mind is if you choose to play as "evil" you start in a brown "mesa" area. Which coupled with cartoonish art design for the landscape its impossible not to draw the connection.

However, even with the comparisons, it at least in my eyes sort of explains the point of the similarity. With MMOs, weve been clamoring for something "different" for ages now. ToR does offer some things that are different, but honestly its NOT different. What ToR IS, is its a game of a new MMO generation. ToR feels like what WoW would have evolved into, or would be had it been coded today. I find it is already a better designed game than WoW is in my personal estimation.

Honestly I do not know that is enough to keep me playing the game, But I do have a preorder set up for it so I will be buying it. Will I be playing it greater than the initial month? Truly I cannot yet tell. It seems very borderline to me because even though it is a great evolution for MMOs, Having played almost 200 of them and seeing the same tropes over and over, I may be irreconcilably burnt on the genre as a whole. If that is the case, theres nothing ToR will be able to do to change that, If not, well, then perhaps there is Hope.

No.

The game is awesome and is easily the best MMO I've played to date. Granted it's just WoW with Bioware storytelling, but that's all it needs to be in order to be great.

Still I can't justify a monthly subscription to the game. I value the game $60 as I do many other great games. It will likely cost me hundreds of dollars to play the story through with all 8 classes at a pace I'm comfortable with. The game isn't worth that kind of money to me from my hours spent on the beta.

Already did. The beta was even better than I expected and considering it's pretty much a server stress test it's very smooth.

I might be considering it if I'd been able to get the beta to work, but at the moment, no. It doesn't look bad, just a bit meh, I've no doubt that I would enjoy it, but paying full price and paying a subscription fee for something that may as well be a single player game isn't an appealing idea, especially seeing as I doubt I'll have the time to play through any more than one class story.

You don't have to play all 8 classes though, I'm pretty certain the endgame requires one main character.

I told myself that I won't play anymore pay-monthly MMOs. I said. "No Thor, NO!" and hit myself on the nose with a rolled up newspaper.

Yet... yet I don't think I can resist this one Star Wars is my idiot weakness, I'll shell out money for damn near anything Star Wars even if I know it's awful. This game looks so damn good though. I just want to be a Cyborg Smuggler or Sith Pureblood Inquisitor so badly.

Currently playing in the weekend stress test...

Not sure, I think the game would be worth the money as a stand alone but an extra 10-15 bucks a month...I just dont know if I can justify that, specially when the other half wants to pick up WoW again.

I'd imagine you're correct. But that didn't stop me from play KOTOR 1&2 with each class. Multiple plays give the game it's replay value and using a different class brings new combat tactics. It's all part of the gaming experience even if it's not required.

No, I liked it more than I thought I would, but it's still a no. It did take away a few of my concerns about GW2, though.

It's basically WoW with a Star Wars skin and voice-over, and I am so done with MMO's of that kind. Eagerly awaiting Guild Wars 2 though.

I'm getting it as a gift, otherwise I'd say no.

I've never really liked WoW-style gameplay, and so far none of the class storylines I've played have drawn me in. They probably get better later on, and I'm saving the two that are supposedly the best (Imperial Agent and Trooper) for launch. After all, I didn't enjoy Dragon Age: Origins until I scrapped my Dalish Elf for a Human Noble.

But I'm stingy. If I weren't getting it from someone, I'd probably wait until a few expansions had come out and they were all available as a $20 bundle.

I personally dislike MMO games, so the first comment explains everything. Before there was mention of Origin, I was considering about trying it, but now that it's Origin exclusive, no thank you, you can keep your game EA.
