1. Boring hotbar and targetting based combat mimicking a game that came out almost a decade ago.
The combat itself was reasonably crisp and responsive, but there was way too much self-rooting, and things felt fairly static. It was definitely not a game pushing things forward in this regard.

2. Little attention or polish for PVP and endgame, the things that keep players for the long haul that you MUST do well for a subscription MMO.
Yep.

3. Too much focus on campaign storyline which, no matter how well it is designed, (and I've heard it isn't all that special) still creates content that can be consumed once before the player is done with it. Besides, stories that the players create themselves with other actual people will almost always be better than anything writers can script, simple because it has authenticity.
It WAS well done, but this was the straw that broke the camel's back. The non-story content was too linear and limited to make alting particularly attractive, so their EXTREMELY expensive story content was short lived at best. And making more content was cost-prohibitive. Frankly, as fun as it can be, heavily scripted/voice acted content should NOT be the future for MMOs. It's too pricey and doesn't last long enough. Better to make dynamic content that is friendlier to repetition.

THAT'S not really fair. The graphics were actually quite handsome on the high end of things. They did not scale well, though. The game was pig ugly on my GF's lower end graphics card. It was actually the breaking point for that card, I ended up getting a new PC and giving her mine.
