I'm from Latvia. Under an hour ago I had to listen to my father burst in swear-flames about how computers suck balls with their various incompatible formats and programs.

Except that, I always swear when I talk to people that I know that they know I'll swear.

I'm from the Netherlands, and I swear quite a bit. In both Dutch and English. But never when it's inappropriate (okay, you could argue that it's never really appropriate and I admit it'd be hard to disagree, but FUCK OFF). When I'm dealing with clients, representing my company or whatever I tend to be overly polite, just for the laugh of it.

I'm sure I've fucking pointed this shit out before that every **** in bloody Scotland damn-well uses swearing as often as the buggers use that punctuation shite. Wankers.

In fact, in Glasgow "cunts" is a semi-acceptable way to refer to people in general.

In case you hadn't noticed, I swear a lot :D
I think this has spread far wider than Glasgow now...

I grew up in Wiltshire, I go to a private school, my dad's an RAF Officer and my mum's a teacher. So basically if my life got any posher I would actually be inbred... and I swear like a fucking trooper!
Isn't it true of the upper classes in this country that they're actually rather vulgar behind all the genteel assumptions you see in media or tea and scones? They swear all the time and (the younger generations at least) are more prone to partying like it's 1999 with all the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll that goes with it? xD

Last time I swore was probably the last time I spoke, probably. I don't remember. I'm easily the sweariest of all my friends.

EDIT: In fact, I remember some kid talking down my appearance in the street earlier. I was with my friend and my response was this: "Well, look at this fucking ****. With his fucking douchebag sidewards cap and gay-ass hoodie. ...Fucking asshole."

But hey, I'm a mouthy twat.

EDIT 2: Oh, and I'm from England.

I never swear, although one might accidentally occasionally pop out. I don't do it because I just find it distasteful and I have more than enough alternatives in my mental lexicon to say something less offensive albeit equally effective. I don't consider 'damn' a swear words though.

The bit about the partying's true (oh yeah ;)) but there's still not much swearing usually, I swear like 10 times as much as any of my friends.

I'm from England, some people swear in every alternate sentence. I myself make a rule of not swearing because I never feel the need, if I need to emphasize something I'll use other words that actually make sense. I don't recall the last time I properly swore TBH.

The last time I swore was about 5 minutes ago. I'm from England. It was "bloody". Mild but still counts I suppose.

Hiya escapists.

I feel like having a look at cultural differences (and just making a light-hearted thread), so here's what I want to know:

Where do you live (you don't need to be specific), and when was the last time you swore (perhaps also why you did it, if you can remember)? Feel free to add when the last time you heard various family members and/or friends swear was, if you want to provide a more varied sample.

Me? Live in Norway, and the last time I swore was at school today while writing a short story (I think. I mean, it's not like I'm particularly careful about keeping track ^.^'). It was just out of annoyance I think.
The last time my dad swore was at dinner today [sub]Yes, that's why I'm making the thread[/sub]
It was just to put emphasis on, uhhh... something. I can't remember.

As for my mother, I can't remember; so I'm just going to take a guess, and say a week ago.

To add some discussion, you may throw in what you think about swearing in general as well.
Personally, I think it's rather stupid that some words are "off limits", but I appreciate that they are there, because it's fun to have some taboos to break.

And don't go over board with the swearing, people. I don't want to be suspended o_o'
Fellow Norwegian here,

My mom sometimes swear, but rarely.
I've never ever heard my dad swear, he doesn't like me swearing much...so i hold my temper around him.
Though i swear sometimes at things that need swearing at...like idiots in traffic etc...feels like i swear for both of us in that situation.

Last time must have been a week ago or something, don't really have much to swear about these days.

I swear regularly. It can be used for emphasis, comic effect or to display any kind of emotion, save for tenderness and love. I refuse to swear in expressing those.

I knew it! You posh folk are worse than me. Which isn't actually saying much since I'm at a dozen parties a year or less xD

At college the other week, a football came out of nowhere and hit the ground in the middle of a group of us who were talking, to which I exclaimed, "What the fucking dick?"
...Thought it was amusing.
Well, West Midlands UK here, and I swear fairly often.
Could do without it, but it just slips out, you know?

I try not to do it that often, so it has more meaning when I do. It needs to be shocking/insulting, otherwise what's the point?

Dalmatia, which is a coastal region of Croatia. Swearing here is all too common; it's just the part of slang and, along with the way we talk has become something that makes people from these parts distinguishable (or annoying). Well .... at least here it does......shut up.

...when I saw the title of this thread, my initial verbal response was, "Fuck... really?" so uh, I swore very recently. From the US, by the way.
