Tactical/Strategy RPG

So I played FFT on PS a long time ago, far and away my favorite FF, played Front Mission series. Later played Gladius on xbox.

So I have had a hard time finding a new version of this type of game. I have found several "close" games like Disciples, Heros of Might and Magic, where you level up armies, but they are constantly reset. That loses a lot for me.

So any suggestions for a game? PC preferably.

EDIT: Should mention I suppose that already finished Dawn of War 2, and Baldur's Gate.

I found Fallout: Tactics to be a very enjoyable game. It is more tactical and squad based, and the RPG elements found in the other Fallout games are toned down a bit. It's available with the new Fallout PC trilogy pack they sell at stores which includes the first 2 Fallout games. You should give it a try.

It isn't necessarily "new" as you stated you may be looking for.

Yea I had looked at Fallout tactics before, even to the point of having clicked most of the buttons to buy it in steam, Just actually pulled trigger so once it downloads i will be able to give it a shot.

I would like to see a new one however, just to assure me the genre isn't hopelessly dead.

(which the fact the new front mission is basically a third person shooter leads me to believe)

Dawn of War 2 is a nice blend of persistant RPG elements and strategy for me. It focuses more on smaller skirmishes rather than large scale battle however, not sure if that will be to your liking.

FALLOUT TACTICS FTW! Sorry, its my favorite game ever. The combination of squad combat, stealth ambushes, strategy attacking, sniping, and recruit variation just makes me love the game even more and more. Honestly, for the genre you are asking for your two(best) choices are: Dawn of War 2(Meh, not much RPG) and Fallout Tactic(pure win until the very last dying breath of your medic who you told to charge the line)

There's a DS remake of the first game but the rest of the series is Playstation exclusive.

I understand, I played demo to Disciples 3 just because i wanted a strat rpg.

It made me think:
Are there really so few games of this genre that these people think they can charge AAA price for a VERY obviously B quality game.

Which the production quality wouldn't even bother me except for the game is also very boring. I know you can't afford Ian McKellen to narrate your game, or have super mega Final Fantasy style graphics, but you can at least make an interesting game.

The graphics tech wasn't particularly impressive either. They just did a fantastic job with the art design.
