Taken movie review

I just recently saw the movie taken on valentines day with my gf (she thought it was a dumb idea until I told her I originally planed to go see Friday the 13th)

I wasn't really thrilled by the preview since I thought it explained the entire movie (bad ass spy gets his daughter taken and has to go save her big whoop) but I heard it was good so I decided to see if that was true.

I was plesently surprised. The drama was very intense and there was good characterization which really made me conect with the main character. The plot was deeper than I originally thought which was a good thing. There wasn't too many flaws that I can pick at (I'm not yahtsee after all)

I advise the movie to anyone who enjoys drama and high intense movies. Just don't take your girlfriends or grandma to go see it.

I guess I can't say for sure since I haven't looked at every single review on the site, but that may be the shortest and most empty review thus far. Most reviews give some insight into the movie, but I don't really see that here.

Capitalize Taken, maybe use something to identify the word "taken" as a movie title. I actually thought to myself "Hmmm....what movie was taken on Valentines Day? What on Earth does he mean?"

No matter the length of your review, I do agree with every thing you said. My favourite aspect of the movie is how he came to finding out where his daughter was being held. I would like to see more action films involving family taking given to people that aren't Harrison Ford, as this one was really good.

Taken as a film is fantastic. Strong acting, and a spy vibe I haven't felt within half the series I've seen in years. I mean Bourne had spying but it also had so much tech that was around that wouldn't be used in general. Bond of late hasn't been a spy, more like a government paid thug who walks into situations and kills people. Liam Nielsons character actually feels like a spy, and he makes sure he gets what he needs before killing people. I mean in Quantum, one of the first leads Bond is a gentleman's name, he breaks into the guys house and ends up killing him, then his entire "spying" part is taking the guys papers and saying "I'm him!". Nielsons character did some of that, but generally he did it better by having business cards, and faked PICTURE ID.

Also a refreshing thing about Taken is that rather than have the main character be the standard good spy by having him have mercy, Liam is hard as stone and won't be merciful. By this I mean that while in Bond and Bourne etc the main character will fake torture to get the guy to talk (the first Punisher has a good example of this with the blow torch) and then let him loose, Nielson just gets him to talk then walks away (one of the better scenes in the movie). Also I like that there isn't just one target that they go after, the chase evolves over time, and leads well above who you thought it would lead to.

All in all a fantastic movie, but not one that's going to make you think, but might make you scared to send your kids to Europe alone.

I thought it was really good, realistic (in as much as I could imagine these situations - no exploding buildings etc - not that there is anything wrong with that mind you)
