Guess I'm in the minority again (big surprise). That movie blew goats. Talk about the weakest excuse to kick some ass. The plot was terrible, and I'm pretty sure any 12 year old could have come up with it. And after he goes psycho on that one drug house, I almost started feeling sorry for the "bad" guys. I really couldn't care less about his daughter, so the whole driving force of the move (to get her back) was lost on me. And the cliche relationship with the ex-wife and new husband made me want to strangle myself just to end the agony of poor writing and poor acting.

I honestly don't see how that many people liked the movie. I'm seriously even more concerned for the future of humanity after reading this thread.

It was okie doke. I liked the action pieces, the story wasn't the most brilliant thing ever, but whatever. I have a soft spot for both Luc Besson and Liam Neeson, so I'm going to admit that I wanted to like it before I even saw it.

Neeson was pretty good at kicking ass for his age. His American accent is kind of weak though, they should've just left him as a Brit.

It's pretty standard stuff for a Luc Besson story though. A sort of flimsy plot meant to house a lot of ass kicking. I mean, look at Fifth Element, Transporter, Bandidas, etc etc. Wouldn't say those are the best stories around, but the movies are still pretty fun. Nothing cerebral.

I forgot to cut down your initial post. that is what I meant to comment on. Claiming humanity is heading for a downfall due to a movie is a bit unrealistic.

Yeah I have to agree with Sallene on that one. All because someone likes a movie that you dont and thinks its good doesnt mean its the downfall of humanity. Besides, sure the plot was pretty basic but really i think it was supposed to be the emotions of the father and the characters themselves that were supposed to be the real selling points. But thats my own opinion.

Liam Neeson is one of my favorite actors and the movie was outstanding. An intelligent badass is his typical role and he always plays that part flawlessly.

You can never, ever go wrong with Liam Neeson, although, in the only exception I can think of, his ungodly power to make movies awesome was slightly neutralized by Jar Jar Binks.
