I think you guys nailed the idea of why I have never played Dungeons and Dragons.

Seriously I can see all of my friends acting like the people on that table did

Fine enough outline to get us used to general character traits and the style of humor you're going to use in the show. I'm guessing we'll probably see at least a couple more like this. Someone you should keep in mind though, people don't usually start getting excited about these shows until a plot that weaves the weird goings on of the world together starts to form. It's what turned Doomsday Arcade and Apocalypse Lane from average shows to absolutely amazing ones. If this show picks up a cool running plot, I will watch with interest. If it's nothing but shenanigans, I'll probably skip it.

I didn't like it really, a tiny grin cracked across my grimace when he said "now you're just taking the piss" but otherwise the whole thing felt too forced.

They're acting too seriously to be taken lightly and too inexperienced to be taken seriously. But then again loads of great series start out with rocky beginnings so hopefully they'll take the feedback and criticism to heart and craft a gem from it. This has potential.

I actually agree with the girl. Why it always has to be fighting something in PnP RPGs? I've played several PnP scenarios (as master and adventurer) where there was no fighting at all. The key focus was on roleplaying, not on killing stuff.

I can tell that they're putting in a lot of effort with the costumes and some of the special effects and everything... but at this point, I feel that they're just reinforcing stereotypes. I realize that this is supposed to be humorous, but I couldn't exactly relate to that situation in a "Oh man, that is so true" kind of way because I haven't attended a D&D session where the DM or players were that... I don't even know how to describe those people. Poorly acted? It has to be on purpose, but the acting in this has gone past parody territory and over into eye-roll-worthy nonsense territory.

I'll watch the next few, but if you guys don't deliver the funny, then I won't be keeping track of this.

I really like it, but I wouldn't mind if they toned down the stupid just a little bit. It will get dull pretty fast having every episode being an argument between the game master and the players.

Meh. It'd be nice to see some action rather than have the players argue constantly. The obvious comparison is to "The Gamers" movies, which, while going for the same vibe as this show seems to be, featured quite a bit more action. In this episode, the players sat around complaining about the adventure and didn't actually do anything. By comparison, "The Gamers" would have most likely had the players actually enact their versions of the fights before cutting back to the table with the DM shooting their idea down. And they would have definitely showed the goblin getting shot with the laser sword at the end.

In the end, a show about fantasy gaming needs to show more than silly table arguments; otherwise, what's the point? If I wanted to watch people argue on a screen, I'd just watch "Jersey Shore".

IT'S FUNNY BECAUSE I have to deal with this every...friggin'...Wednesday...

Can't wait to see where this goes, it's looking like it might be better than "The Gamers" ^_^

I said it two weeks ago and I'm going to say it again now, anyone who wants to enjoy a good version of this needs to hunt down any copies they can find of Knights of the Dinner Table. Same basic premiss, but you don't have to put up with the bad acting and the writing is much better.

I will however admit that the light saber at the end was pretty funny. Still not enough to keep me watching though.

Yep, this show is going to be great.

Funny how all the good shows on the Escapist are either Australian or Canadian. Commonwealth countries seem to be cleverer than Americans.
