You can think out what you say.
You can drop conversations very easily.
You're appearance does not matter.
You can't get punched in the face.

It's easier because you don't feel threatened as you do when your talking to a real person. The only difficulty is when you're being sarcastic.

I've never really experienced this.

Talking to people online is very much the same. If a bit harder because I have more time to think about what I'm going to say, and I overthink.
This. I've found myself saying very stupid things online because I over-correct myself and end up saying something that I never intended. I'm actually much more eloquent in person even though I'm about as asocial as someone can be without becoming a hermit.

For me personally, online chat is more comfortable then real life.

Real life though, is easier, because all conversations in person have a sort of...flow to them.

Why is it so easier to talk to people online and is it the same for you guys?
Because I type insanely fast due to working as a copy editor and I am chatty both online and in person but online typing gives me the advantage of being able to get lots of words out without being interrupted? Oh, and I don't really have to pay much attention to what the other person is saying?

;)

Seriously? I don't know, I find communication easy in most any medium.

It's easier for me because you can take your sweet time with replies, and really give some thought into what you are saying. You tend to get to know people better than in a hectic real-life situation. And if it's the first time you talk, not having to see that persons face, or worry about how you look at the moment, etc, really helps out.

Statistically, I have about three times the chance of falling in love with a girl that I first talked with for sometime on the internet, than one I met in a bar/café/school/work/whatever.

I'd say because you can just jump into a conversation willy nilly, in "real life" a person's voice and appearance can alter you perceptions and therefore how and if you speak to them.
And generally, it's much easier to cover up your weirdness online - or so I have found.
