You know, this whole hilarious thing has caused me to start thinking adults aren't that smarter than kids. I mean, they make the carts taste bad so that kids don't put them in their mouths, and because of that adults start doing it on purpose.
Curiosity is a powerful thing, man. XD You tell an adult "This is bad, but the consequence is small", they will likely try it just to satisfy their curiosity and gain more information.

They're also made to be durable in case those same children-under-3 drop them. There are many things about Nintendo I don't like, but I've never had reason to complain about their build quality.

Of course, only the OG Game Boy can lay claim to being made of Nintendium.
Ehh...I've had issues with the DS lite and 3DS.

I went through FOUR DS lites, FOUR. Because of goddamn hinge cracks. It's small wonder they stopped covering those under the warrantee (but at least replaced it for cheaper than the cost of the system)

And I'm on my second 3DS because I dropped it on the kitchen floor when it fell out of a pocket, and this somehow caused it to no longer be able to load the main menu (Again, they replaced it for less than the cost of the system, but it still hurt to pay)

Now, the OG game boy, THAT was durable. I dropped it down the stairs as a kid by accident one time, and it was still 100% alright. The batteries just fell out and everything else was ok. XD
