so, latley, ive been getting a great urge to put ink to needle and get my next tattoo. but I, like many others have a problem. i like my tattoo's as unique as possible, but with so many tattoo's already tatted, its really difficult to find somthing that no one has. so i like to draw my own and just hope for the best. my question for you; what tattoo designs have you come up with or already have that are unique to you. i promise, i wont steal your ideas, im just curious to see what my fellow escapists have come up with. i hope to find some pretty awsome results. fire away!!

I have a Luis Royo piece on my back. His art lends itself well to tattooing I think as long as you can find an artist with the chops to pull off a good rendition. I will see if I can dig up a picture of the tattoo when I get home. http://www.wallsave.com/wallpaper/1024x768/luis-royo-the-free-angel-177909.html

Also have a fleur de lis on the head of my dude parts, as I am a huge New Orleans Saints fan. Don't worry, there will be no pictures of that one getting posted.

Geoff from Achievement hunter had a great idea. Get Tetris blocks to symbolize important parts of your life and link them together like a standard tetris game.

As for myself, no tattoos, I'm far to indecisive for those.

I have the lyrics "And there will be sorrow no more" on my chest, from Sorrow by Bad Religion. It actually means the opposite to what it says, the song is about how an end to sorrow is an unachievable goal, there will always be something to cause humanities suffering, if it's not one thing then it's another.

I also have a raptor claw on the inside of my right arm, it's bad ass as fuck!

Wasn't it Jack that had that idea? I know he got a tetris block tattooed on his arm last time he was in Australia.

A stylized phoenix is what I have on my upper arm. Don't know if such tattoo's are more common where you live, but here you don't see it often. (people generally have less imagination than that.)

i got this rorschach tattoo on my forearm.

if youre going to get something done, id recommend going for something that has meaning. while getting a unique tattoo is noble, it can be difficult, whereas the reason behind it will matter more as time goes on.

I think I have one of the most ununique tattoos ever!
It's a Liverbird on my chest, I bet there are Liverbirds tattood all over peoples bodies but I guess chest and lower arm are the two main places.

Calf seems to be the place where a lot of people get their Football tattoos.

As for me, I've got a few tattoos, including an ill-advised wolf tramp stamp I got when I was 15 and wanted to be cool. I get mocked for it these days, but hey ho, life goes on.

Once my back is done it'll look like part of the scene anyway, so it's not a massive drama.

Only thing I'll put on me will be either a few words or a short phrase that describe the indelible part of my nature. In Latin of course. And in a mirror reflection. Trying to think of exactly where to put it, and what the words will be, as it will be very personal to me, and I want to be able to hold it when I need to without looking odd, but not have it visible to anyone, no matter what I wear.
I would like an image with it, but I'll figure that out after I figure the words out. It'll be some symbol that sums them all up.

Not exactly original, but eh.

I am a massive needle phobe, so I pretty much can't get one! :(

But if I could I would have something involving the Guinness Toucan...

Im fairly covered and my theory for ink is IF YOU LIKE IT AND IT MEANS SOMETHING EVERYONE ELSE CAN GO KISS A BIG FAT ONE! Who cares if someone has something similar? As long as it is important to you just go with it. My ink is a mix of self designed and recreations of artwork.

eg. lifted from a manga:

or self designed one piece tattoo: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151355223072918&l=179e22694d

or totally self designed (still unfinshed: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=19359302917&l=3baa5857b2

hope those links work.

Merry! *sniff* She'll be missed. What does it say on her sail?

I love me some tetris, so I have a wristband tetris tattoo. It's super cool and kind of discrete, easy to cover up with a watch or a shirt sleeve if I need to go undercover. It's just the lines at the moment and I'll probably get it coloured in in the future with a rainbow gradient for extra lesbian points. I get the feeling it would seriously piss off the artist though, doing all the fiddley details in small shapes.

Ever since Joey Ramone died I've been wanting to get a Ramones themed tattoo, but the last thing I wanted was to go in there with the band logo and say "I want that" So I'm currently working on a design that will essentially be a stylized green glass bottle in the shape of a heart with the stopper pulled and fumes coming from the neck and scroll work around the base that reads "Everybody has a poison heart."

My Granddad had the words "Coimhead fearg fhear na foighde" tattooed on his forearm which I understand to translate roughly to "Beware the anger of a patient man." (Or something close... No matter how much he tried to teach me I never really had an ear for Gaelic.)
I'm getting something similar with the same phrase surrounding a pair of brass knuckles, still deciding if I want to have the same scroll work design as the poison heart tattoo or just the words themselves.

I don't have any tattoos, but from what I observed there is one bit of advice I can give you. Well, two actually.

First, SPEND SOME MONEY ON IT. Don't look for the "bargain" or "best price" one in your area. Ask people with tattoos where you can find the best quality. This is going to be a permanent mark on your skin you're going to be looking at for the rest of your life. Dropping a few hundred on it now may seem hard, but you'll regret it later if you don't get someone who really knows what they're doing. And look at their portfolio of works before you ever sit in the chair to get a handle on what they've done in the past.

And secondly, if you get words, for the love of God get them spell and grammar checked. Do it yourself, and then go to a few others too.

I have the least/most unique of all tattoos, a tribal which was mostly hand drawn.

You will never be a unique and special snowflake, so why try? It's not like you will get it removed if you see somebody else with it. Come on, there are 7 billion people, what are the chances that you're going to get the one and only tattoo of that thing?

Just get what you like love the look of, maybe alter it slightly then get it done.

I have a friend who got a teapot just above her ankle.

It's actually pretty cool :p

We both love tea though (yes, British) so maybe our views aren't valid on the matter
