I had my first tattoo done over the summer and loved getting it and have no regrets about it. Just be 100% sure that its something you still wanna see on yourself in like 10 years and not feel stupid for getting it. Getting it done was pretty brutal somewhat though. I had it done in Russia as something to remember my trip by in the guys small cramped room. The temperature was about 95 degrees and I spent five hours laying down on my stomach while he did his work. I had no bathroom, food, or water breaks the entire time and never stood up once to take a break. After he finished the second I stood up, I passed out due to a combination of all those things and my cousin had to hit me to wake me up again. Overall I actually loved the experience and am now planning on getting many more done.

My tattoos are now in the vicinity of five years old and I don't regret them. They were kanji I walked in and picked off the wall. They're part of who I am, and even if I think they're stupid later on they will always carry that meaning for me.

I want one more tattoo, something specific, but I can't draw it myself or find the artwork anywhere else.

I have to say though, this one here is awfully tempting.

Did you make this exact topic like a few weeks/months ago? Or was someone else wanting Bioshock chains on their wrists?

Anyway, if you get a tattoo, make sure it's as epic as this one.

Tattoos are great, unless they are bioshock chains on your wrist.

I have a bass on my arm

I better not quit playing Bass or I'm going to look mighty stupid.

I plan on getting more, I wanna get some kind of day and night theme going on around that one, and the Swashbuckler from the Complete Warrior book on my right arm.

my concern is about location. you can get temporary tattoo paper print it out on that and place it somewhere you like.
at least you have the chance to choose a different location if you don't like it there.

other than that go for it!

Tattoos are good as long as they aren't of something ridiculous that you are going to regret later. Also put tattoos in tasteful places.

I've been kicking around the idea of getting this for a while now.

If I still want it at Christmas, I'll go get a price quote. If I still want it on Pi day, I'll get it.

Don't get wrist tattoos, seriously.

I have one on the inside of my left wrist which actually means something to me and couldn't have gone anywhere else but most of the people I know who have something similar just have them for the hell of it.

Plus they're -really- hard to conceal if you're working somewhere more conservative in the future.
They're not that hard. Long sleeves cover mine up just fine, or sweatbands.

I got one on the inside of my left wrist that means a lot to me, and plan on getting at least two more in less visible places :)

Oh god. When I got my tattoo I went with my best friend/roommate. She got hers, and was wincing and squeezing my hand the entire time. I got mine and was chatting and laughing with the artist while he was doing it... but trying to get up, my knees were jelly. It felt AMAZING.

You should get this:

OT: I think that getting any kind of tattoo is stupid. I mean, you're gonna have this thing for the rest of your life and at some point you're going to look back and think "Why the fuck did I get this!?"
That's what life is about.

I'm all for tattoos, as long as it is really important to you. If the Bioshock chains mean something to you, personally, than go right ahead and get them. Same goes for something related to TF2.

I'm planning on getting the Triforce wrapped in olive branches on my left arm once I can. It not only represents my love of gaming but balance and peace.

Well, after reading all of your ideas, I've decided that I will probably not get one on my wrists. Who knows, maybe I might. Although no one really mentioned any situations where there employer gave them problems about it, it would still be nice to conceal. Thanks for the advice.

Actually I do (or at least did) alot of art work to which a large portion was very unique tribals. Some of which are actually on people around the globe. (like 4 but thats 4 different countries none the less).

However, I dont have any myself atm. In part because physically I look like the type of person who would likely be covered in tattoos, and am somewhat immersed in a very tattoo centric culture, and that is all the reason I need NOT to have them.

However, there are 3 I would personally consider.

1: I contemplated that when I married my fiancee that my "wedding ring" would be a tribal tattoo around my ring finger as a symbol of its permanency.

2: a blue circle on my inside forearm just above my wrist. The purpose of this is that it is the international symbol of diabetes, to which I am a diabetic. (though Im guessing that some might not catch on, but it seems important enough to actually warrant a tattoo.)

3: On my chest a brief message. "Dear Coroner, Please try CPR one more time."

Point? oh yeah, uhh... tattoos need to be something that reflects their long term nature. Something like might save your life when your unconscious, something that you want to be permanant, something that isnt going to fall out of favor next year, Something with distinct significance to you, or something along those lines.

Or else you run the risk of ending up on [link]http://ugliesttattoos.com/[/link]

Do it. Because I'm pretty sure Brett Erlich is some kind of god.

Throw on a watch. That's what I do with mine when I need it to be covered.

I have full sleeves on both arms and most of my right leg is done. I am an elementary school teacher. No grief from my employer. Seriously. I have posted several times on my ideas about tattoos in various other escapist threads, so if you want my opinion, search for it there.

In short, ditch the Bioshock thing because it's been done before, and chances are good that it's been done better. Find a good artist to work on CUSTOM artwork for your TF2 idea.

Then again, I'm kind of a tattoo Nazi and only want to see original artwork on someone else, so take my opinion for what it's worth. If you're the type of person who thinks that every tattoo needs some sort of deep emotional meaning, or need to attach some sort of lame story to your tattoo, then don't get one.

I'd only get a tattoo from my Air Force career, on my shoulder, the plane I fly and my callsign. That's it. I'm very un-approving of tattoos on anyone unless it's seriously person, small, and not many. I'd never date a girl who has tons of tattoos, as I believe the skin should stay clean unless really needed / personal.
