I will let the illustrious (although I haven't seen him much around here anymore) Ironninja put it into words:

Though i only do it when playing with friends.
Never with random people online.

I only do it occationally as a joke and only on games where it's not taken as some kind of mortal insult.

That's hilarious! If I played online games like that, I would do that all the time. I'd probably just run around trying to do it. Do it to other people's kills even.

Why? Why does anyone like to show off ever? Teabagging is just an easy and amusing way of asserting your dominance over someone. It's basically telling them 'You just got owned, now taste my balls'.

However an unearned teabag is just about as low as you can get. It has to be a worthy kill, or a sgnificant one to warrant a good ball dunking. Like, crossmap noscope killjoy revenge kind of thing. It's also a perfect 'fuck you' to someone whos been acting like a total dick. Like if somebody was to spawn camp your whole team, or abuse a stupid glitch or something, then teabagging would be not only acceptable, but a must.

Simply put: it is hilarious.
This. I do it because it's funny. Immature I suppose, but I like to keep it handy to remind people to lighten up while you're playing a game. What I cannot stand are people who get ANGRY when playing online shooters. It's a game, and if the game ritually makes you angry, Don't Play It!

It's funny. Why? Because people like you take offence to it, it's a game. I don't go out of my way to do them, but if I just close quarter killed you, I'll do a little squat before moving on for the lulz.

Well if I just leave the teabag in the hot water it might not get dispersed all the way.

It started out stupid, but I actually think it is fucking hilarious now. Most people do it kind of tongue-in-cheek anyways.

I asked my mother this very same question during a game of Halo 3 at a family party. Her response?
"Well son...sometimes ya just gotta put ya nuts in someones face."

I teabag my buddies when I kill them in games all the time. It's just sort of a fun you just got owned moment. I don't think I've ever really talked about somebody sucks.

Well, in my experience, the action of asserting your dominance over a deceased member of the opposing team (known to some as "tea bagging") has spawned a very interesting species of hatred in the victim. They will, on occasion, begin to single out the offender, making them easy targets for other team mates. Not only that, but their single-mindedness seems to blind them to reason or strategy, effectively causing their skill to degrade until they finally earn their revenge. Of course, by the time they do, they themselves have already died several times, while offender has only died once. This ratio of victim-to-offender death, and effectively the score of both teams involved, creates a favorable situation for the team of the offender, or, the "home team", as they say.

Therefore, I find teabagging to be a quite legitimate strategy while partaking in friendly, internet-intensive virtual competition.
