I just found out about this and quite honestly I'm shocked it was even possible to be done. but this is old news, it exists and we have to deal with it's existence as mindbogglingly as it is, here's my question though. Is it right to have a mod with this intent, in ANY game. if you have a hard time trying to understand what I'm asking picture this. You heard of this mega awesome supergame, it's been out for years, and F2P has always been a part of it (Not a very big part, like say a week trial) and then suddenly say F2P players have unlimited access (With restrictions ofcourse). These players find them selves being hunted down in this game and killed, then their char name added to a list of players that if any one parties with them, causes the party to be attacked.

Is it right for the playerbase to lash out on it self? was it just an overreaction? or am I rambling to my self and get warned for this post? Who knows

You seem unaware of the past debacles over Halos, Unusuals and every other difference...

Please refer to http://www.prisonexp.org/ for reasons why people act like assholes when divided.

Well it's up to the servers owners who plays on them, and if they don't want some group of people on their servers then that group has to live with it.

Yes, it's within the rights of whoever owns a server to choose who he or she wants to play.
I never said that it wasn't, What got me was that they made a mod for the fact of banning someone over if they have paid anything or not, I agree its with the rights for hosts to say "I don't like yourface *ban" its a bit childish but it is their computer and their connection.

My point (If it wasn't clear) was is it right to attack another player of a game on a Metagame scale Recently my friend had to go through 5 FIVE name changes because her old guild pretty much took her name and ran it through barbwire and salt and threatened to do it with any one that played with her. Doesn't the company have some obligation to make sure things like these don't happen? I know its hard but I'm talking things like serverwide smear campaigns, that is activly hindering if not out right preventing the play of their product?

edit: this goes double for games like WoW, I know its fucking huge and you would need something akin to the National Guard to sort through the emails but really, if it comes down to not being provided a service that you have paid for then they should do something

On the F2P side of this though, Yes they have less weight when it comes to "domestic" problems but when I was playing a F2P game I actually spent 50$ because the mods took time to look into my issue (It was a simple game error telling the quest npc I wasn't done because I was a F2Per)

It's stupid to the enth degree but unfortunately, if someone wants to play that way on a server they own, it's within their rights. Online games are not democracies.

Why exactly, would you want to ban F2P players?
I don't really understand the logic behind that...

Surely after now, they've become skilled enough, right?

Anyway, cue the swarms of people ignoring how unfairly biased this is...

Sadly people are within their right to act like childish finger pointing pricks.
But let's think about it for a moment, would you want to end up on a server with the people who agree with such mods?
I sure as hell wouldn't, and ultimately they will just end up with empty servers.

Meanwhile you can make servers on your own and just have a blast, let the emo kids sulk in the corner and cut their wrists.

Oh, it's extremely biased and unfair. It's just....On private servers, there's nothing you can really do about it. I hate the idea and I'd never play on a server like that but it's still nothing you can really do something about if it's on private servers.

Obviously you haven't seen all the other stupid shit TF2 players ban each other over.

There was a time when you'd be banned for wearing a Halo(special headware given to people who didn't idle for hats), or the time where you could get banned for wearing earbuds(special misc. items given to people who played on the mac in the first week TF2 was available for the platform).

It's just because the general TF2 community is shit. Or the people on the TF2 Steam forums are, at least.

Oh yeah, also this.

They pay for the servers, they set the rules.

Seeing as I'm apparently one of the incredibly few people who thinks like this I suppose its my duty to say it.

I fully sympathize with servers banning F2P people. I don't like the fact that I had to pay for something and now anyone can just have it. And as much as this next point is up for debate: I think F2P has diminished the experience, I see a lot more scumbags on the servers I frequent since the F2P went live.

So, I say more power to those servers that ban the F2P filth.

A lot of it is for trade servers, because if your F2P in TF2 you can't trade. So people do it to prevent people who can't trade from taking up trade server space.

Strange. I was about to bring this point up. Great minds and all that. Or not.

I was recently playing on a server that I jumped on because it had the least ping. I have played the game a fair amount and have gotten to the point where I get big amounts of kill streaks. I know a lot of the ins and outs. So I get to this server and all people that play F2P are nerfed and P2P are buffed. I was pissed. I was in dead anger and I just couldn't believe that this prejudice would lead me to actually leave the server, since I'm quite stubborn. But I did.

The thing is, I'd gladly pay for this game, I love Team Fortress 2. I really do. But I don't have the sort of income that I could just dash it up the wall on just about anything. I really don't.

It really isn't fair but if people are willing to do stuff like this then it's just something I, personally, have to endure. There are plenty more servers.

A mod you say, however. Now that is just stepping into trolling.

It's mind boggling that some server owners who pay for and run their own server don't want inexperienced players joining?

The playerbase may not like F2P's, but if you're in a Valve server and have a Steam avatar with at least some clue as to what you're doing, nobody can tell if you're F2P or not.

A lot of people may not like F2P's, but if you have a Steam avatar and at least some clue as to what you're doing, nobody can tell the difference. There are a lot of people who switched over from Xbox who were very skilled, and the only reason they are F2P is because they haven't bought anything from the Mann co store yet.
