I started playing TF2 again after the uber update. I have a bunch of old vintage crap that I kept after the crafting update because I thought it might be worth a trade someday.
All that is vintage. Yeah, I know none of it is particularly rare or special, I didn't start playing yesterday.
Is vintage stuff worth keeping for trades, or should I just use it to craft me a nice hat?

Vintage hats are usually a pretty big deal, but weapons are just good for craft material.

Depends - exactly how old is it? If any of them are old enough for the level numbers to be random, you'll probably get a lot more for them. That said, if you find the right people I'm sure they'll be willing to give you a little more than you'd get by crafting even if they're the normal levels.

Not that old. Anyway, I'm not sure of my chances of finding someone who will trade an old-ish bonk for a crusader's crossbow. Thanks for the help.

Keep the singles, sell your dupes if you can. I like to use Vintage weapons just because I have them and they look good to the people around them. If you find the right people, you can sell them for a scrap apiece or so, which is obviously more than you'll get out of a regular craft.

Most Vintage items sell for double the NV items. Especially useful ones like Bonk (which is in quite a few recipies)

Most I have seen people buy vintage weapons for is 1 or 2 scrap. I don't like the trading it's everyone ripping off everyone.

Craft yourself some cool stuff. That's what I do with my old junk.

Not the game's fault that people can't haggle.

Junk just accumulates in my backpack until I get sick of the clutter. Then I find someone and give them everything I don't want. I know there's an "economy" for items, but I don't really care. I just want to play the game. I just hate sifting through a bunch of crap to find the weapon I really want to use.

And I'm getting to a point where I want to dump items again. My Backpack [http://www.tf2items.com/id/DustyDrB].

I've been selling Vintage weapons for scrap metal. So basically a vintage weapon is worth 2 normal weapons.
