When you first started playing TF2, which class did you decide to play as first? And was it your favorite?

For me, I first played as the Pyro. As soon as I set a random sniper on fire and watched him burn to death, I knew this class was going to be my favorite.

So what about you guys?

Engie. Next to Demo, probably still my favorite class. Something about watching a Scout frantically try to backpedal away from your mini-sentry, or hearing the drain sound when you nail a Medic with the Pomson. [http://mylifeasrage.com/img/comic/2.png]

I played my first games as a Soldier, which is listed as a good 'beginner' class.

The first class I 'main'-ed for a while was Engineer. I was playing a lot of Badwater, and learning the strategies for good sentry gun placement based on what the rest of my team was doing.

I then moved on to playing Medic after a long break, playing more and more Dustbowl.

Then as I was on trade servers I started playing around as a Scout, just for fun.

Nowadays I play a lot of Scout (on Offense, mostly), but am probably best at playing Medic. I'll only do so if I feel my team is competent though - if not I'll probably play keepaway as a Pyro/ play engineer to hold points.

Starting to play a bit of Demo/Soldier, but at the moment only against bad teams.

Medic, and yeah it was my favourite class for years. Nowadays I'm good enough with Soldier to play him more often though.

My favorite class for ever has been the Scout, played the hell out him. Recently though I've been clocking a lot of hours as Demo, Sniper, and Soldier. The most fun I'm having right now is getting kills with the Loch n' Load.

I the first one I played was pyro, because...well, fire. Even though their have been times since then I have gone on scout or demo binges, but in the end I always return to my favorite little flaming merc.

oh god I can't remember..so long ago.

Maybe soldier? not sure.

But now a days, Pyro and soldier are probably my top two played (granted this also depends on map), unless there is a considerably annoying spy/sniper on the other team, then I will switch accordingly to troll them to death until they rage quit or switch classes. (I can't tell you how much satisfaction I get when this happens.)

still, I love me some pyro airblasts, trolling people with shooting their shit back at them is just priceless

(got 3 rockets with one fucking airblast for a triple kill last week, was fucking epic.)

this was a loooongg time ago (I was even playing it on the xbox, eugh!), but I think that I first played as heavy just because, you know, he looks powerful so I was like "heck yeah!" And then I realized that he kind of sucked and then I started destroying everyone as Soldier.

When I moved onto the PC version, I played as soldier. I sucked at first but eventually got to be a competent soldier who usually ranks at the top in pubs and in the middle in lobbies. Although lately I've been trying to get good at scout and it's been either hit or miss with how I do. There was this one round where I had 60 something kills and 5 deaths, and the next round I got 5 kills with 16 deaths.

The sniper, since I like sniping. I've branched out to the other classes now though, but I still go back to popping skulls every now and then.

Sniper, because it's pretty easy.

I main soldier/medic now though.

And seriously, fuck playing medic, all of my heal targets are idiots.

Pyro, and I still do like it. But then I play spy, and fell in love with it. It's by far my best class, although I do like to help win and since the f2p update most servers have 2 spies all the time, and I won't go spy if there's already 2, and mostly won't when there's 1
:(
Although you can never have enough scouts, and I'm about the same level with them too, it's just less fun.

"Never have enough Scouts"? Yeah, right. They made the Natascha for a reason, mate, and there's a reason I keep one in my "C" loadout at all times.

First class I ever played was Soldier, for the training, and my first few games. Then I switched to Heavy and for the five years since then, I've played every single class to death. I'm still favouring Soldier, Spy, and Medic, though.

Started out playing Pyro but my favorite classes are Scout and Soldier since they're the fastest/most maneuverable classes.

Spy. It's a tie with the Heavy for being my favorite class.

On a related note, I've decided to start playing TF2 on PC now after playing on the 360 for a long while (yes, people still play it), but I'm not sure where to start server-wise. I just want one where nobody minds that I suck at the game since I'm not used to playing on PC.

If you actually know how the game works you're unlikely to get insulted on most servers, as they're hardly havens of great play. I like to play 24/7 servers (always same map), but each to their own. Valve's own servers might be a place to start.

Medic. There were never enough Medics and too many Snipers/Spies. Halfway competent Medics are much more useful than halfway competent Spies/Snipers. It just sucks that my computer could never run the game smoothly, which had me lagging behind my patients constantly.

Alright, I guess I'll start on the official Valve servers.

I do have another question. Does The Escapist have its own TF2 server that's still generally active?

First class I played as was soldier. Not my favorite, though. Engineer is definitely my favorite, but the soldier, scout, pyro, and maybe heavy are close up there. Least favorite is definitely medic, followed by the sniper.
