I've played both, and I can say that the PC version is much, MUCH, better.
I still found it to be mediocre, and still filled with tons of douchebags, like every other online game.

The PC version has countless maps.
Payload maps.
Unlockable weapons.
Misc items.
Class updates.
Sprays.
Pyro airblast.
Easier contols.
Weekly updates.
And quite a few other features.

The X-box doesn't have enough RAM to include all of these yet.

The Steam version is better in every way (unless you want to play around whith a few glitches which were removed in the PC version).

Wow. Just... wow.

I bought Orange Box for the xbox360 today. Actually, I initially bought it on release day so I could play Portal... so I technically re-bought it. Back then there was barely a person playing Team Fortress 2 so I gave it a miss. However, having heard numerous endorsements of the game, and assuming that the amount of people playing might have picked up, I bought another copy.

What. A load. Of balls. I've been trying to play for the last few hours, but have now thrown in the towel - it's rubbish. It's like the original, TFC, but slow, with a total of about 4 maps - only one of which supports CTF- , and whining American children requiring mass-muting at the beginning of every game.

Am I doing it wrong? Have I missed something? Or is this genuinely a terrible game? I realise that the PC version has more support from Valve... but can the 360 version be so different? I'm not sure what my enquiry is with this post... but someone please explain - I'm feeling somewhat bewildered and perplexed!!
As someone who played both the 360 and PC versions, YES, it's SO different.

The reason is not directly the increased Valve support, it's because the increased Valve support caused all the real players to go to PC, leaving a bunch of douchebags playing the 360 version, and it's no fun to play a game with all jerks and griefers.

Try the PC version, and find a specific community group (may I recommend the Escapist group?) it's SO much more fun

You must be blind and deaf if you didn't know that the console versions of TF2 are total rubbish and PC version is superior in all the ways you can imagine and even beyond that.

I wouldn't say the worst game ever, but it certainly is in my worst games I have played figurative pile.

It's not lack of RAM.

Also, it's not the better features that make it so much different, it's the better community, that uses the PC version because of the better features.

It's the only game from Valve I enjoyed from them. Both versions are good. PC is slightly better due to the updates

As pretty much everyone has said, Valve kinda dropped the ball and has not updated TF2 360 for a lonnnggg time. The PC game is different, if you can try it, try it.

Also, the TF2 PC group on this site is the third largest and one of the most, if not the most, active group on the site.

It's really unfortunate that you are playing the 360 version of the game because it is a completely different experience on PC.

The 360 version of the game has had only a few updates (almost next to none) and generally most console games have annoying players that generally should not be playing any sort of game in the first place.

Also, the PC version allows community contributions and different servers allow for different experiences. Maps are never in short supply because of player created maps can be played whenever.

If you can, switch to PC but make sure your computer can run it. I bought the Orange Box originally for Portal too but my crappy computer couldn't run it. Took me almost 3 years to finally get to play it and to get a new computer.

Yes the PC version is very different and I play the PS3 version (pretty much the same 360 except EA has better networking) and it has 6 maps. Only one has CTF but what is wrong with the other control maps.

Try playing on Unranked matches not Ranked matches. No one plays the Ranked matches on the 360.

Theres like 10 new maps on the PC version and no glitches.

The reason the game is slow is probably the networking.

I didn't like the game at first because I sucked at it I suggest playing a Pyro or Scout to start.

It's one of my favorite games because the experience completely changes when you change you class

If you still don't like then you like Portal so you obviously have a pretty good taste in games.

The problem is that you didn't get the PC version, but no-one has really explained why yet.

The PC version has over 30 officially supported maps, and an unlimited number of user made ones.
It has a thriving community.
At least three new weapons for every class, some have more.
A multitude of new balance patches (spy cloak, pyro airblast, engi moving building).

And, of course, the most important thing, HATS!

360 version? Well there's your problem.
You really can't compare the console and PC versions, they're like two different games.

The 360 version of the game is (mostly) awesome.

Well, it WAS (mostly) awesome, until the bloody class limits update.
