Hi everybody.

I was at a family get together recently when one of my family members proposed to his GF, she started crying, Now, i assume it was tears of joy, because she said yes. Anyway, this got me thinking, i couldnt think of one situation in my life where i would be so darn happy i would start crying. Can you?

Long story short, have you ever been so happy you have cried, or could you think of a situation where this would be the case?

Intrested to see your responses.

I watched The Scorpion King 3, and afterwards I couldn't stop crying for about an hour.

It's just ... so beautiful.

I hadn't seen a post from you concerning The Scorpion King 3 for a few days, we were all worried about you.
OT: Erm... one or two times here and there, but never sobbing. A manly tear or two is all I ever manage.

Yes... but I don't want to share, because what followed resulted in tears of despair...
A girl?

Also, was that rhyme intentional? :p

OT: Yes, yes I have. It was the day I lost my manliness... again.

I cry during the opening scene of the Lion King,
when baby Simba is being shown to all the other animals.

The whole scene, the way it was made and the music.
It always gets to me.

To question the first... yes... though considering this place (i.e. the Escapist, what with the relationship threads in /Adv) it's not what most people think...

To question the second... no... that was quite by accident, couldn't think of any other word than 'despair' at the time...

Nope, so far I have not shead a tear of joy. Sure I can be happy but not tearful from that happiness. I only shed tears from pain, depression (in the past), sadness or anger.

I'm not really good at showing emotion, so I really doubt I could cry of joy, I mean it's really hard to tell when I find something funny because I don't laugh or smile, so I don't think I can have that kind of emotional reaction, it's not that I don't feel it, I just don't show it.

I shed a manly tear at the end of Bioshock, at the happy ending. I sold the game shortly after. I guess that counts.

Everything I shed tears for is usually sad, and when it is happy, It is usually music related. I used to shed a tear at "Two Little Boys", but I've since become impervious to that wonderful song.

I don't know. I guess the closest recently I've come to happy tears was when I was writing to this girl I like, but I got cold feet and almost ended up scrapping the E-mail, but then I listened to this one song [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEWswHtQUkc] and it gave me courage, during which I shed a tear at it.

It made me happy because I at least got to take her out on One date. That should count.

Nope. Never had tears of joy.

Just had never been that happy. Hell, I don't even think I've been what people would call "deliriously" happy.

physiologically speaking, there is no such thing as happy tears. Generally, happy tears come up after you become so nervous that you would so like to cry, but you hold it back so that you can deal with whatever situation is causing your nerves. And then when the situation resolves itself, you release your nerves and in that moment, you cry the tears that your body wanted to cry but you were holding back.

as for myself experiencing tears of joy, when my last girlfriend had a potted plant delivered to my house, and my room mates answered the door to it and were just like "wtf, why's matt getting a plant?" and I was super embarrassed, but at the same time, it was also the nicest thing anyones ever done for me. So I cried, quite a bit.

I swear you're posting about it all the time now just to get a rise out of me. Do I even need to read your comments anymore? >:O

OT: I've had some tears of joy in my life but those are from moments too personal to share. I have cried for no reason in the past however. Not really happy, not really sad nor in pain. Tears just started to roll.

It's weird.

No. Why would anyone cry if they're happy? I can see myself crying if something is very bittersweet, but that's not really the same thing.

I cry after hearing Adelle's "Set fire to the rain"....But, I don't know if it's just tears of joy. I love music and the song is beautiful, but It's also so sad and passionate...so idk.

What's funny is that I can cry EVERYtime I hear that song....even if I was previously fine.

I never cry tears of joy.

Or sadness.

Or anger.

Nope, not even Edward Scissorhands, The Lion King, or anything in between can get to me.
